  1. Wish you were here. I wanted to talk about Qantas airways.
  2. I just started watching Fargo. The second season. I looked up the cast of the show before I started watching it. Kristen Dunst is in it. When I was younger I heard people making fun of Dunst's teeth. I felt really bad for her. In an interview she did in 2019 she told the reporter that she was asked by some producers to have her teeth fixed, but she refused. Though she probably had dental work done at some point because her teeth do not look the same as before. I wondered what would have happened if she never had it done. And why can't we even accept an actress with "imperfect" teeth. David Bowie also had crooked teeth which he later fixed. I have heard many people claiming that his teeth did not bother them. I wondered if they would have said the same if it is just some random person with crooked teeth. I would be sad if their logic went like, the more talented a person is, the more crooked their teeth I could accept. My friend had a car accident in London some years ago and that messed something up. I am sure some men would have chosen to leave but hers did not. Her husband did not tell her to fix anything. A side note, fixing and repairing, in a relationship, are some essential skills. I do not want to be with someone who constantly thinks about jumping ship. Though we all know that some mistakes are simply beyond repair. "Would it be so bad if I slept with this girl, only once, behind my wife's back?" Yes, it would be over. I would like to find someone who not just likes the beginning of things but also the things after that. Someone who I could share both the best and the worst years of my life with. And, you know, someone to watch Fargo with.
What I am looking for -
Short version (there is a long version, with explanation, follows) -
A single, monogamous, adult man who is looking for a lifelong relationship, has time to be in a committed relationship, will become my best friend, is in shape/ not too out of shape, is reasonably healthy, is mentally healthy and stable/ mentally unhealthy and unstable but has been monitoring the progress, mentally available, is a meat eater, is a non smoke rarely smoke, is a non drinke social drinker, is a non drug addict (weed is fine), is a non gambling addict, is a non porn addict, is a virgin/ non virgin but was always responsible to their exes (always wore condoms and never had STDs), is okay with no cohabitation, is okay with no premarital sex, is not into anything kinky, wants kids (biological kids/ adopted kids), is okay with your spouse not taking birth control pills, is okay with your spouse not wearing an IUD, is debt free/ with justifiable debt, is religious/ non religious, is eligible to apply for a passport (and meet each other)
If you do not agree with everything I said above then we are not compatible. “I agreed with most of the things you said.” What does that even mean? I have had enough messages telling me that they do not entirely agree with what I said but would like to see where things go. The answer is nowhere. I do not have time nor do I want to build a castle on sand. I also have had enough messages telling me to reconsider things. I won't.
What I like -
Sun
Snow
Trees
Woodworking
Agriculture
Plants
Good food
Hot food
Hot soup
Warm words
Laughing
Wool yarn
Wool clothing
Names with stories, say like, street names
Dining wares

Old stories - old movies and shows
Good stories - movies, shows and documentaries, books, music with good lyrics
Good arts
Thrift stores
Flea markets
What I am looking for - Long version -
A strictly monogamous relationship that is happy, healthy, supportive, and lasts forever. I am not looking for dick pictures, chat buddies, dirty chat buddies, hookups, love affairs, friends, friends with benefits, sugar daddies, sugar uncles, sugar sons, rebound dating, short-term dating, several years dating, polyamorous, open, or online-only relationships.
Communication - I would make time to talk to my SO every day, and very much prefer so, even just to hear that they are safe and sound. But I would be understanding if they are out in Antarctica and the satellite Internet at the work station does not always work properly, or something like that. I would like to deal with all the hardships in life together as a team. Having arguments in a relationship is somewhat unavoidable. I like straightening things out, right away, in a logical, non violent, and non abusive way. I apologize when I make mistakes. Giving silent treatment is really not my thing. I am not saying that I do not have a temper. I do. I do get angry, but within reason. Keeping promises and being punctual are important to me.
Mental health - The amount of toxicity I could take is arguably higher than average, but please alert me if you are struggling mentally. On a side note, I hope you do not like watching porn. It is a poor choice, and is both physically and psychologically damaging. I am not asking everyone of you to agree with me on this, or any other things I say in this post. Whatever floats your boat, strangers; just let me have the freedom to find whatever I am looking for.
Distance - I am not looking for an online marriage. You could join me here. Or I could go there. A solid plan with solid dates would be needed. Future faking is a fucked up thing to do to another person. If you need nude pictures, phone sex or Skype sex to make a long distance relationship works, I am not the person you are looking for.
Meeting for the first time - I have given this a lot of thoughts, still I do not really know when and where would be good to meet up. We could meet either before we go into a relationship or after. It would probably be fairer for us to fly to a foreign place to meet, it means we would have to trust each other enough to do that. In that case it would make more sense to meet after the relationship has already been established. I think it is doable to fall for someone just by talking. Though I am aware that people are often not who they claimed they are. Those who say they are loyal could be experienced cheaters. But we will see. When in doubt, I ask questions.
Marriage - I have never been married but I would like to get married. The last thing I want is a divorce. The word marriage has sort of become a dirty word now but I am old fashioned. I like relationship labels, and I hope you are the same. A side note, I'm not into having a big wedding. Or a diamond ring. Or to dress fancy for a pre-wedding shoot. The National Gallery of Art has three self portraits of a Hungarian photographer and his wife. I would like to have a wedding like theirs. Which means I would just like to hang out with my SO somewhere, take some pictures ourselves, and call it a wedding. If you never had a proper family, fear not, we would have one on our own. However, having a toxic childhood should not be an excuse for exhibiting toxic behaviors. I would never set myself on fire to keep you warm. It would not help.
Sex - It would be too intimidating if you have had unsafe sex, a lot of sex, or many sexual partners in the past. Premarital sex is off the table. People make fun of those who have never had sex, which I do not get; I do not care and even would very much prefer that, because I would not have to grieve over your past. But, then again, grieving is a part of life. It is alright if you are not a virgin, just do not lie to me about your sexual past. I do not really have a sex drive. Mentally speaking, I would be okay if you never wanted to have sex, I would also be okay if you wanted to have a lot of sex. Because I do not specifically crave for sex; I crave for love. In other word, I count all types of affection as a whole, and sex does not specifically stand out from all the rest. Physically speaking, I would not be compatible with those who have a high sex drive, as I think overindulgence in sex is destructive. Also, I would not be compatible with those who are into kinky sex/ filming sex tapes. There is nothing wrong with those, they are just not my thing. I think having boundaries in bed does not mean I do not love them, or love them less than those who have no boundaries. I would never take birth control pills/ wear an IUD, because they have many side effects that I do not want to deal with. Respect my choices.
Kids - I do not have kids. But I would like to raise kids. Ask yourself, honestly, if you are mature enough, and ready to be a father. "But I am not ready, just yet; there are things I want to achieve before I become a father." Find someone younger, then. I would like to add that I have no reason to doubt my fertility as I take reasonably good care of myself. I have no, and never had any, chronic diseases or illnesses. Am at a healthy weight, somewhat slim even. 5 feet 7 inches tall. In the event that I was infertile, surrogacy would not be an option. It goes against my morals. So, again, think twice. I would like to raise adopted kids, and treat them like they are my biological kids. I would not dump my husband if, he was found to be infertile at any point of the marriage. Technically I would be fine if you do not want to raise kids at all, but providing a home for some orphans is something I could do, and I do not want to pass that on.
Living together - I have always, and still am against the idea of living together before marriage. There is nothing wrong with cohabitation, it is just again not my thing. I would gladly introduce my roommate when I was in school to you if you are worried that I have some weird quirks. I might or might not bribe her before I introduce her to you.
Money - I am not rich, and was not born rich, but I have no debts. Never had debts. I am aware that some debts are justifiable, like student loan. I worked in the academia. I just started doing something new, related to my field of study, and that makes me happy. Whether you are a postdoc, or a high school drop out, makes no difference to me. For those who think that throwing me a sentence like “I am a lawyer” would be enough to make me talk, have some self respect. I am fine with my Reddit inbox collects only dust.
Religion - I suppose I have always been mostly an agnostic. My parents sent me to a Christian middle school, then a Christian high school. It would be great if you are a God believer and do not mind me being a non religious person. We could read Bible together. It would also be great if you are a non religious person but follow traditional values.
Smoking, drinking and doing drugs - I do not smoke cigarettes. Or vape. Or whatever. I do not do soft/ hard drugs. Have no past addictions. I do not take over-the-counter drugs even. I do not drink alcohol. If you drink responsibly, then I do not have a problem with that.
Dietary choices - I am an omnivore. Have no food allergies. Please be a meat eater. I do not want to get into an argument with you over a tuna egg sandwich I make for our kids. I would not raise my kids vegan. They should be able to make their own choices when they are old enough. I like cooking quite a bit. Would learn to cook all your favorite dishes.
Pets - I do not have any pets.
Gaming - I do not gamble. I have never played any video or computer games. Game soundtracks though I do often pay attention to.
Tattoos - Sure, why not?
Earrings - Why not? I would buy you earrings.
Long hair - Why not? I would braid your hair when you are asleep, though.
Politics - I am against communism, and totalitarianism. Trump 2020. Please read my reddit history.
P.S. This is Reddit, a wonderful yet utterly dangerous place, strangers. Especially for women. So many people prey on the weak. Even scammers would tell you that “you are everything I have been looking for since forever”. Canned messages are easy to spot, because I am smarter than you imagined. There were people who messaged me from throwaway accounts, which I noticed later filled with porn posts. Accounts with no post history are fishy. Anyhow at some point let's do a photo verification. Maybe we could take a selfie while holding a piece of paper with something like "Today's February 33 1920" written on it. Thank you all for sending me a selfie right off the bat. But I do not trust you enough to click on it. Also please do not ask me to talk to you over the phone/ do a video chat with you right off the bat. If you absolutely do not know what to write, check out "pinned post II", there's a list of 30 questions. If you have a lot of things to tell me, check out “pinned post II”, there’s a list of 30 questions.
TL;DR - I am a non religious person who holds traditional values and beliefs, which for obvious reasons give me a hard time these days. If you see this post, message me, no matter when.

  1. If you were here I would show you this video clip I saw on Benny Johnson’s IG. Rudy Giuliani, at a news conference on election legal challenges, asked a reporter which broadcasting company she’s from. “CNN.”, the reporter said. He immediately bursted into laughter. Jenna Ellis who was standing behind laughed as well. Love her smile. I have hit the repeat button like five times, and instantly remembered Donald Trump Jr. called it “XiNN” once.
  2. I once got an internship at a company in a neighborhood I am not familiar with. I asked a friend of mine, who did an internship there the year before, about where I should avoid and things like that. Then she was like, "My boyfriend took care of everything for me. I think he um...." I asked my next door neighbor the same question because he got an internship in the same neighborhood I did. The first thing he said was, "If you can't figure things out on your own I don't think you should do an internship at all." For some reason the conversations I had with them still strikes me even until this day. People rarely care. People rarely understand. Even rarer to have someone who both cares about and understands you. Most people don't give a shit about the fact that you are in a bad spot. Some people might say, "Oh man I am sorry that you are in such a bad spot." A few people might pause whatever they are doing and offer you some help. Only one person, or maybe two or three, won't go until they get you out of the bad spot. I would like to be that person for my SO.
I won't.

TL;DR - I am a non religious person who holds traditional values and beliefs, which for obvious reasons give me a hard time these days. If you see this post, message me, no matter when.

  1. I had a classmate who was kind of bald. Not because of sickness, though. She’s very pretty, if you ask me. But that still gave her a hard time dating. Eventually she did manage to find someone who didn’t care, however. I always find it unfair that people seem fine with men with no hair, but not as much with women. I wonder if it’s because that’s what our society tells us. In a world full of sheep I’m looking for a thinker.
  2. I once got an internship at a company in a neighborhood I am not familiar with. I'm on a throw-away account.
In the summer of this year, my wife started playing an MMO on her phone and made a bunch of new friends. I was happy for her as she was doing something she really enjoyed. Then she started to experiment with ERP or erotic role playing. At first she only started with another couple (M and F) and she told me all about it and I was completely fine with it. I remember doing that sort of thing back when I played MMOs almost 20 years ago. Back then we called it "cybering."
Our relationship took a huge turn for the better because of this. We've been married for over a decade and we have a young child together. For all of this time, we'd had sex once a week at best. Typically we'd be together 2 or 3 times a month. But because of the role-playing, we had started having sex 2-3 times a week and it only increased. We went one week where we did it every day. We both felt closer in our relationship and my wife felt as if she had a sexual awakening.
Shortly after starting her role-playing journey, she sent a picture of just her torso in a bra to her two friends that she role-played with. She told me all about it, so everything was above board. I was just high on our new leveled up relationship.
Later, she made another friend through the game who I'll call Andy. Andy's single and 10 years younger than my wife. Long story short, they engaged in role-playing, which I knew about and was also fine with at the time.
However, things with Andy escalated. I heard her one night talking in our living room and overheard her saying sexually suggestive things. I went downstairs and she told me she was sending him short voice recordings for use in their role-playing sessions. This was the first sign of something going wrong in my mind.
As time went on, I started to get jealous and I started reading the chat logs of her game. I learned that she and him had exchanged pictures. Mostly selfies. I confronted her about this and explained how I was feeling. She initially got very defensive and claimed that I was taking away her game, something she greatly enjoyed. I didn't want to do this, so I backed off, but we talked it out and laid down some ground rules. I just wanted to be kept in the loop of any goings on. She agreed to tell me any time she'd send a picture to him or get one of him.
Time continued and she was having a blast and we returned to our new normal of a lot of intimacy. We regularly had conversations checking up about the situation and after each conversation, I would feel a lot better about things because after three or four days, I would start to feel jealous again.
My wife and Andy started to exchange more racy pictures with each other. She always told me and asked for my input before sending a picture of herself. But they weren't just selfies anymore. They were pictures of her in her underwear or even lingerie. They were also talking on the phone through Discord about once or twice a week when she drove to work. She was up front about this and always said that she only ever talked about game stuff or mundane life stuff. Never phone sex, especially not while driving. I believe her on this as that'd be quite difficult.
But the jealous kept creeping in. I went snooping again at the chat logs and it became an obsession of mine. I'd check in to see what they were doing and the tone of the conversations wasn't that of nameless characters RPing anymore but of the two of them engaging in things as them. "If you were here, I'd dive between your thighs" etc.
This all came to a head when I started googling "emotional cheating" and discovered that indeed my wife was having an emotional affair with Andy over texting and pictures. I confronted her and showed her some videos I found on Youtube that described what I thought was going on. My wife felt terrible, but also relived. She had known in the back of her mind that what she was doing was "wrong" but couldn't put her finger on it. The videos explained everything to us and helped us label what was going on. I was terrified to confront her with my feelings of jealousy because I thought that if I stopped her role-playing and possibly even playing the game all together that our new life of great sex and amazing relationship (outside of this) would evaporate. But I couldn't take it any more because it was affecting my day to day life and work. My mind was constantly on this. I confessed this to her and we had a surprisingly level headed conversation about everything. She ended her emotional relationship with Andy. No more Discord, no more pictures, no more role-playing. But she remained in the game and continued to play, even with Andy, but as friends. She didn't want to give up the game she loved playing and all the other friend she had made and I didn't want to take that away from her either, not in the least. That would breed too much resentment.
Since this, my wife has felt like a weight has lifted from her shoulders. She doesn't feel guilty spending time in the game or with Andy in the game as they're now just game friends like she is with everyone else. But what I feared was coming true. The sex dried up and our relationship began to slip back into how it had been for years prior.
Last night, I was frustrated by the lack of intimacy again and we had a fight about it. As we talked it through, she confessed that she really misses doing the role-playing with Andy. She wants to bring that back into their relationship but keep any feelings out of it. It'd be strictly in the game, so nothing over Discord or any other medium. There'd be no pictures from either party shared and no voice chat/phone calls.
For my wife, the role-playing made her feel sexual and sexy. This in turn made her want me even more. She likened it to reading an erotic novel or watching porn and getting horny for your SO. I could identify with that. She noticed a change in my behavior as well. I was more loving, giving, compassionate, and understanding. I can't explain it myself, but it was like having that competition there caused me to be a better husband.
I'm now juggling with the idea of consenting to her doing role-playing again with Andy, to see how things go and if things return to their heightened state as they were the last few months. I came to realize that the role-playing never really bothered me. That it was the sharing of personal info, the actual emotional affair, that was the problem. With that cut out, maybe things can work again. Have our cake and eat it too sort of thing. But I'm afraid of her emotional affair returning, on either side, her's or Andy's.
She's told me she doesn't even want to be with him IRL. She's thought about it, but that's just daydreaming. Who hasn't wondered about sex with a coworker or movie star? He lives thousands of miles away and their age difference means there's a giant gap between their lives. No real life relationship would work between them. They're just too different. She loves me even more now than she ever has and I have been feeling the same. This is why I'm willing to make this work so that our relationship can continue to blossom.
Do you have any advice moving forward? Does anyone have a similar story they can share?
TL:DR My wife wants to ERP with someone she previously had an emotional affair with, but without the affair any longer and I would be kept in the know of everything going on in order to greatly enhance our sex life and relationship. Do you have any advice on how to proceed?
Edit: Calls for divorce will be ignored. If you read the above you'll know that this has benefitted our relationship WAY more than it's hurt it. I liken it to hot-wifeing or something similar. I'm not going anywhere and she's not going anywhere and I believe and trust her on this.

2020.11.18 00:24 greenandgreener Video porn chat live

Last night I watched a short video clip on YouTube. Souto de Moura first met Siza while working with Noé Dinis. Souto de Moura said that he and Siza stayed up late and worked together a lot. "Siza had practically no family, he's a widower.", said Souto de Moura. I immediately looked him up, and felt somewhat better after knowing that he has a son with his late wife. "I had enough work to maintain a studio, and when I didn't, I always returned to base", said Souto de Moura. "Siza, I'm short of funds.", and Siza always replied, "Are you? I've got a project and we're going to do it." For that I am sure Souto de Moura's forever thankful to have Siza in his life. "I recognize the ability of him, and even envy it. I find him remarkable, he's unlike any other architect." Isn't that sweet? I would like to find someone who would talk about me like when Souto de Moura talks about Siza.
What I am looking for -
Short version (there is a long version, with explanation, follows) -
A single, monogamous, adult man who is looking for a lifelong relationship, has time to be in a committed relationship, will become my best friend, is in shape/ not too out of shape, is reasonably healthy, is mentally healthy and stable/ mentally unhealthy and unstable but has been monitoring the progress, mentally available, is a non smoke rarely smoke, is a non drinke social drinker, is a non drug addict (weed is fine), is a non gambling addict, is a non porn addict, is a virgin/ non virgin but was always responsible to their exes (always wore condoms and never had STDs), is okay with no cohabitation, is okay with no premarital sex, is not into anything kinky, wants kids (biological kids/ adopted kids), is okay with your spouse not taking birth control pills, is okay with your spouse not wearing an IUD, is debt free/ with justifiable debt, is religious/ non religious, is eligible to apply for a passport (and meet each other)
If you do not agree with everything I said above then we are not compatible. “I agreed with most of the things you said.” What does that even mean? I have had enough messages telling me that they do not entirely agree with what I said but would like to see where things go. The answer is nowhere. I do not have time nor do I want to build a castle on sand. I also have had enough messages telling me to reconsider things. I won't.
What I like -
Sun
Snow
Trees
Woodworking
Agriculture
Plants
Good food
Hot food
Hot soup
Warm words
Laughing
Wool yarn
Wool clothing
Names with stories, say like, street names
Dining wares
Trains
Photography
Now I am 30, a decade later I would be 40. Giving birth at 40 for the first time would put me somewhat at risk. Not that I would not risk it, but maybe think twice before you message me.
Politics - Trump 2020. I am against communism, and totalitarianism. Please read my post history.
Thank you all for sending me a selfie. But I do not trust you enough to click on it. Also please do not ask me to talk to you over the phone/ do a video chat with you right off the bat. If you absolutely do not know what to write, check out "pinned post II", there's a list of 30 questions.
TL;DR - I am a non religious person who holds traditional values and beliefs, which for obvious reasons give me a hard time these days. If you see this post, message me, no matter when.

I know this is a long post, and it took me a lot of time to write, so I hope you will show this some love. If you are not a fan of reading this much, you can watch it in video format on our newly started YouTube channel: The link to the video is: https://youtu.be/dxcKytlPzB4 If you decide to watch this, please do not forget to like the video and subscribe for more such content!
While comics can look impenetrable from the outside, I’m here today to tell you that it’s not as hard as you think! At the same time, I’ll clear up misconceptions some new readers have, about starting, and the medium as a whole. Throughout the post, I have also given out a few tips to help you read and enjoy comics, as much as we do! And do not forget to read this post till the end, to know which comic book is ideal for you.
In recent years, comics have expanded and they are not just superheroes comics like the majority of the popular comics were for baby boomers and millennials. Nowadays, you have comics like Saga, Black Science, and Sex Criminals that have made it to the forefront and they are nothing like a superhero comic. DC Comics is home to the DC Universe of characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, while Marvel Comics is home to characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Squirrel Girl. DC and Marvel are known as the “The Big 2” in the comics industry and own the most well-known superhero universes that are now reflected in some of the most popular movies every year. So, if Batman or Captain America is not something for you, then not to worry. Although the superhero comics will always remain dominant, there have been many other genres of comics under Marvel, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Vertigo Comics, and other publishers that have made their way to the forefront. Now, before I tell you which comics to read, let’s Smash Some Common Misconceptions First!
There are lots of misconceptions about reading comics and sometimes these uninformed facts can be a roadblock for potential comic readers. It’s a real shame, as many of these are simply not true! Once these misconceptions have been eliminated, getting into comics will be an easy task.
1) You Have To Start At Issue #1
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to start a comic book with issue #1. For many readers, their first issue was not a #1. It was some random number, sometimes in the 100s. While I do admit, it can be confusing to pick a series mid-story. Although, if you start with an issue that begins a story arc it doesn’t matter if it is not issue #1. As long as you are enjoying the story and/or art it doesn’t really matter where you begin!
Comic Books Are Hard To Find
While comic books are not everywhere, they’re not as hard to find as you might think. From comic book stores, bookshops, online, to your mobile phone, comics can be found in many places.
Comic Readers Community is nerdy and Unfriendly
If your only contact with a comic book lover has been a toxic fanboy on Reddit or the Internet, then you have been lead astray. Most comic book fans are friendly, helpful, and passionate about what they do. They’re willing to have a chat with you about all kinds of things and many of them don’t mind answering your questions. While the unfriendly stereotype used to be true, in the past 15 years comic book community has made leaps and bounds to become more professional and accommodating to even newcomers.
Comics Are Only Superheroes
While the most popular comics are superheroes, there are a vast array of different genres represented such as science fiction, humor, fantasy, memoir, horror, crime, espionage/spy, romance, adventure, war, etc. Some genres you may need to dig a little deeper to find, but if it’s a genre it has probably been done in comics.
It’s Too Hard to Figure Out The History Of Series And Characters
The late Stan Lee is credited for stating “every comic is someone’s first.” It’s a notion that many writers and editors, especially at Marvel and DC, take into consideration when they create comics.
Writers will keep readers in the loop with what they need to know through exposition and other storytelling techniques and editors will often include recap pages at the front of comic books.
Additionally, with the power of the internet, even the most convoluted histories are not that hard to figure out. With sites like Wikipedia, Comic Vine, and a variety of wikis, the answers are at your fingertips. Further to this, it’s not required to know the full history. Just like people in real life, not every single event that has happened to a character informs their current story. Often, a lot of a character’s past is never referenced after a certain period of time. In some cases, they are forgotten about entirely!
Now that we have the misconceptions covered, let’s start with where to get and what comics you should start with if you want to start reading. If you’re unsure, here are some simple questions to help you find an answer:

  • Who’s your favorite comic book character?
  • Which comic book movies did you enjoy?
  • What kind of movies, books, TV shows, or video games do you enjoy?
  • If none of these worked, just ask yourself what kinds of stories do you want to read?
Your answer(s) could be as simple as “I want to read Batman” to something more complex such as “I am interested in stories that are set in a dystopian future.”
Once you have an answer, you can start to look for comic books that match that criteria. To look for a book you can try a few of these alternatives:
1. Borrow Comics from Friends:
Do you have friends that read comics? If that’s a yes, then beg them to lend you some! Not only is this a free source of comic books but they generally know what stories you enjoy and can help expose you to the right ones.
2. Take Advantage of Comics That Are Free
Before you slap your money down on the counter (or the online equivalent) on something you might not be sure about, I highly recommend that you take advantage of free (and legal) sources of comics. This allows you to start reading comics without financial risk and to get a taste of this wonderful medium.
3. Take Advantage of the Graphic Novel Collection At Your Local Library:
Does your local library have a graphic novels section? If it does, then you should definitely check it out. Good libraries will have a great range to choose from, which will allow you to sample all kinds of different stories. Also, it’s not a big deal if you don’t like a particular graphic novel as you can return it and borrow something else.
4. Visit a local comic book store:
There’s a chance that you might not have access to graphic novels at your local library. So, identify a local comic book shop, pick out the comics you want to start with, or just ask the shop employees to help with your tastes, and voila! Visit the store regularly and prepare to spend around three to five dollars per issue. And enjoy the heck out of comics every week!
  1. Legal ways to read Online:
If none of these worked for you, don’t worry. I have another way out. If you prefer to read digitally – on your phone, tablet, or laptop – then Comixology is the way to go. They have tens of thousands of comics available for sale, will often have generous sales, and have great reading software too. I mean they're owned by freaking Amazon. Most of the free comics come in the form of first issues, previews, and the occasional mini-series from almost every genre imaginable. You’ll need to sign-up to Comixology first before you can take advantage of their free comics.
Coming now to a few comics issues I’d recommend you guys to read, to get you started, here 10 favorites from my list, without spoilers, but with notes about the types of readers that might enjoy them! Followed by a few honorable mentions. But these are in no serial order of preference, so you can just pick anyone that seems to suit your tastes. These are can’t-miss books that just might turn you guys into lifelong fans of comics. So, when the next person asks what your favorite comics are, consider tossing a few of these onto your list.
1) Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
I chose to start with this one because it’s the best comic series of my most favorite superhero. Frank Miller’s mid 80’s re-imagining of an aged Batman coming out of retirement sets up years of the macho, grim and gritty Batman we know today. There’s also surprising humor and inspiration here, in one of my favorite Batman comics, highly recommended for new readers. First published in 1986, The Dark Knight follows an aging, retired Batman in a dystopian future as he faces his own mortality and is drawn back to the cape and cowl. Over thirty years after its debut, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns remains an undisputed classic and one of the most influential stories ever told in the comics medium. Miller’s Dark Knight Returns remains the best way to understand Batman, and much of the broader pop culture landscape, with its endless parade of iconic antiheroes and grim-and-gritty reboots. Miller helped us all understand who Batman is. So, if you’re looking to start with DC comics, please look for this one.
2) Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 & 2
Coming over to the biggest rival of DC, we would recommend you to start with Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 from Marvel Comics. Before the electronic Stark industry designed suits was a young teenage weirdo who struggled getting to class in time. Ultimate Spider-Man is a great story tackling the humble beginnings of our beloved web-slinging hero. Let’s face it, the original first comics of Spider-Man (Amazing Fantasy) are kinda old and boring, making Ultimate Spider-Man the perfect reboot. In this story, Brian Michael Bendis shows a more present-day Peter Parker and how he embraces the role of Spider-Man in Marvel's second universe. As I read this book when I was a teenager, I will always have this special connection with Spidey. It's just cool how even a superhero has normal high school problems like homework, crappy teachers and even girls.
Ultimate Spider-Man is truly something very special, and the perfect place to jump into Spider-Man. It’s fun, it’s clever, and it’s beautifully constructed. Who would ask for more?
3) Watchmen
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s classic deconstruction of superheroes has been voted one of Time’s 100 best novels, not just graphic novels – novels, and was developed into a feature length film from director Zack Snyder in 2009, and is the inspiration for HBO’s Watchmen series, which came out just last year. The comic series convinced me that comic books could be intellectually rewarding and inventive, and is for mature readers. It features the characters of Rorschach, Ozymandias, Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl, and the Comedian! When the Comedian dies, a series of events are set into motion that bring the world ever closer to a deadly threat no one saw coming. The plot summary I just gave you, of course, doesn't portray the sheer amount of character development, themes and nuances Moore included in 12 issues. You have to check this out if this sounds something you would like to read. To be a bit cliche about it, Watchmen is the Citizen Kane of comics. And if Watchmen doesn’t sell you on the literary potential of comic books, then we’re just about out of luck.
4) The Sandman
Neil Gaiman is the author of many celebrated comics and fiction. The Sandman is his comic book masterpiece, celebrating a love of stories while covering endlessly cerebral territory. Sandman centers on Dream of the Endless and his realm of dreams, where any story is possible, meaning the book bounces everywhere from a Serial Killer convention to Arabian Nights visions of India.
Also, Sandman is so popular that DC Comics resurrected the brand in 2019 for an expanded Sandman Universe. And hear me out on this one, because a few months ago, Audible and DC presented the first-ever audio production of it. The Sandman falls into the dark fantasy genre such as urban fantasy and epic fantasy. If that’s your cup of tea, go for it!
5) Bone
Bone is a remarkable all-ages fantasy adventure from writeartist Jeff Smith. While Bone can take some darker more frightening turns, it remains a great comic book read for younger and older readers alike. So, if you like adventure or fantasy, you owe it to yourself. The plot goes like this - Three modern cartoon cousins get lost in a pre-technological valley, spending a year there making new friends and out-running dangerous enemies. After being run out of Boneville, the three Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone are separated and lost in a vast uncharted desert. One by one they find their way into a deep forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures. It will be the longest -- but funniest -- year of their lives. But rather than just talk about the book, let’s also look at some of Smith’s art. Because while his characters and dialogue and verbal storytelling are wonderful, one of the foremost joys of the book is how he conveys his narrative through artistic choices. In late 2019, it was announced a Bone series will (finally) be coming to Netflix, meaning it’s likely that reading Bone is going to be as in demand as ever.
6) Saga Comics:
It is often to be considered as “Star Wars meets Game of Thrones.” There are also the comparisons between The Lord of the Rings meets Romeo and Juliet. Saga has 33 issues currently. This book has everything: intergalactic war, star-crossed lovers, high tech, magic -- and all told through a narrator who is a baby for most of the story. The most common comic on any “comics for people who don’t get comics” list, and for good reason. Saga is the romantic comedy space opera from Brian K. Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, The Private Eye) and Fiona Staples. The series is heavily influenced by Star Wars and is based on ideas Vaughan conceived both as a child and as a parent.
There are a million and one comics, TV shows, and movies about space, yet Saga somehow manages to feel completely fresh, infusing modern sarcasm and innovative system design into the well-worn genre. Saga manages to feel innovative and fresh, infusing modern sarcasm and eye-opening world-building into the well-worn cluster of Space stories. More than anything, Saga feels like a story for “adults,” and this Image Comics series is definitely for mature readers only. If you’ve long held the suspicion that comics are junk media for kids, Saga is the type of sophisticated yet fun adventure that can go a long way towards changing minds.
7) Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu
Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Marvel Comics masterpiece is well worth the brief moment of wondering whether Hawkeye could truly have one of the best comics for new readers. The 2012 Hawkeye series is brilliant, fun, and largely avoids complicated continuity questions present in most Marvel comics. All of this makes it a great pick-up for new fans who want to see Marvel at its best. I picked up this story a few years ago, and it was actually a surprisingly good read . Matt Fraction does a great job taking this "powerless" archer into a butt-kicking superhero who is experiencing some sort of hero-mid-life crisis. Artist David Aja provides complementing art that has a sort of "cartoony" feel, which I personally loved. The comic is action-packed, funny and has a really compelling plot. Any new reader will be able to enjoy this as it does not require much background reading as it is sort of creates a world for itself.
8) Black Science
Black Science is a creator-owned science fiction American comic book series by Rick Remender and Italian artist Matteo Scalera. Image Comics released the first issue in November 2013 and it ended in September 2019. Filled with stunning artwork and a trippy-yet-emotional storyline, Black Science is a top-shelf sci-fi adventure. I’m hard-pressed to think of a series in recent memory where the creative team was so perfectly matched. Remender spins a rollicking tale of anarchist scientists, alien death cults, philosophical quandaries, and multi-generational family drama that’s spread across a dazzling array of worlds (both alien and familiar) and blends pulp-y sci-fi and weird fantasy with wild abandon.
Black Science crams in a lot of twists and turns, especially in its final issues — from shifting antagonists to revelations concerning the Eververse’s true nature. And frankly, not all of them work equally well. That being said, it’s impossible to not admire the sheer scope of what the creators have accomplished with Black Science and is a must read for lovers of this genre.
9) Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison & Richard Case
While I love Morrison and Case’s early 90’s DC / Vertigo Doom Patrol, I’ll also be the first to admit I love it largely because of how insanely weird it can get. This is the least straightforward “superhero” comic I’ve ever read, but if you’re interested in some absolute imaginative insanity, Doom Patrol is the book for you. But, note that it is for mature readers only. Doom Patrol is certainly not your average cape comic. Originally conceived in the 1960s, the Doom Patrol was reborn a generation later through Grant Morrison’s singular imagination. Though they are super-powered beings, and though their foes are bent on world domination, convention ends there. Shunned as freaks and outcasts, and tempered by loss and insanity, this band of misfits faces threats so mystifying in nature and so corrupted in motive that reality itself threatens to fall apart around them—but it’s still all in a day’s work for the Doom Patrol. For those of you who might be a little dissatisfied with any perceived monotony in the world of superhero books, Doom Patrol might be just the thing for you.
10) The Boys:
Who will police the people with power? It certainly is a heavy topic to consider, and one that writer Garth Ennis, artist Darick Robertson, attempt to answer by throwing Billy Butcher and his crew at every corrupt superhero in sight. Then The Boys beat them senseless, and sometimes bloodless. This is not a series for the faint of heart. The themes and topics covered, and more so, how they are covered, are raw and somewhat unfiltered. The Boys uses dark humor to introduce the reader to its most uncomfortable scenarios, disarming your sensibilities and making something horrible seem palatable, even for a brief moment.
The Boys is a very over-the-top satire of superhero comic books. Its subversion of the genre makes for a unique and uncomfortable look at the abuse of power by mighty people. The Boys themselves are a fleshed-out group of misfits you will come to cheer for as they enact sweet revenge on all the worst super people you have ever seen. They want what we want, accountability of the powerful. If you enjoy dark comedic craziness, give the comic series a try. Also, it includes a lot of Scottish cussing. I found that enjoyable. If you’ve seen or heard about the Amazon Prime adaptation of the show, it is just a watered-down version for mass appeal. So, this might give you an idea of how dark and gritty the comics are going to be.
Honorable Mentions:
Here are a few other comics that I’d recommend starters as well as regular readers to check out.
1) Sex Criminals
This quirky series is all about Suzie, a woman who can stop time when she has sex. When she meets a guy, Jon, with the same ability, they find manage to use their powers to, of course, rob banks. If you’re trying to sell someone on comics, and they just so happen to like things like laughing and sex, well, you can’t miss with Sex Criminals. And if they don’t happen to like those things… wait what?!
Sex Criminals is a gorgeous book with plenty of hilarious sexual jokes, and a surprising amount of heart. It may begin as an excuse to design porn shop jokes, but after only a few issues Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky have crafted some of the most interesting romantic entanglements and characters in comics.
2) Miracleman
Miracleman is another 1980’s superhero deconstruction from Alan Moore, the best comic book writer of all time. See the Superman and Captain Marvel mythos elevated to a more “realistic” form. Advised for mature readers only.
3) The Bulletproof Coffin + Bulletproof Coffin: Disinterred
If you like the concept of stories within stories, or fiction coming to life and effecting our real world, Bulletproof Coffin is a modern Image Comics masterpiece from David Hane and artist Shaky Kane. Advisable for mature readers.
4) Mind MGMT
Matt Kindt’s Mind MGMT from Dark Horse comics is another modern masterpiece, both one of the best spy / secret organization stories I’ve ever read, and one of the most innovative comics ever. Highly recommended for reading.
5) Maus
Maus is Art Spiegelman’s biographical account of his family’s surviving the Holocaust, as well as his autobiographical account of his relationship with said family. It’s a harrowing, real look at the devastating tragedy of the Holocaust and generational trauma, told with superb skill. Very serious subject matter, so, might not be suitable for everyone.
Reading comics is a blast, so as you get started, remember that this should be fun! If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the amount of material, just know most comic book readers have felt the same at some point, and the best thing you can do is find a starting place from the ones I mentioned and just dive in. Now, I am not saying that you should absolutely read the comics on this list first — but, this is a good starting point for anyone who wants to start reading comics. There are some you can skip. Instead of wasting your time and reading all of the origin stories that every comic instills, you can read these few to see if you like and see if they are for you. But, even if these are not for you, there are some others that may be up your alley as well. This is simply to get your comic book wheels turning and seeing what you like out there.

2020.11.16 16:06 unnecessarycomics How and where to start reading Comics, and which comics to read!

7) Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu📷
