ok, here goes!
*PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE COMMENTING*
I am a 15 year old "Christian" dude that has been struggling with porn for around 3 years now. Every time I make a step forward I get pushed 2 steps back. My parents know about this problem and they have put controls on my Phone and Laptop. Heck, I cant watch my own YouTube Videos in My YouTube Channel because of YouTube Restricted Mode. Yet it is not enough. The images and videos seem to be ingrained into my mind for like eternity, never letting me go and letting the enemy to continue tempting me. Some Days I fall and other days I resist. I've broken my record on the number of days that I have abstained from porn, which was from 14 days before to 19 days now. It may not sound like much but I fought that Battle with my will and reminding myself about God's Grace as well as watching christian sermons about Porn. But it's the same battle every day and I'm tired of always fighting. I wish it would end but I know it will never end.
The Flesh, My FLESH will always be flesh and have fleshly desires and I feel like I'm always at war with Myself. The Thoughts, Images and Videos wont go away, sometimes I cry about it but thats rare and most of the time I ignore the feelings of shame and guilt by pushing it away, hoping its gone. BUT IT NEVER GOES AWAY!! Why is it that I'm liked cursed with this porn addiction. Sometimes I feel like physically throwing up after I fall into temptation. And I sometimes I think that my porn addiction has had a greater influence on me than my equally hard battle with Depression and Loneliness. I've Watched sermon and read books about it and where it will lead you. Even When I AM TRULY MOTIVATE the enemy truly tries to distract and DESTROY my will. I feel Numb now more than ever!!
And it REALLY DOESN'T HELP that the temptation is Everywhere, and when I mean everywhere I truly mean EVERYWHERE!! On the TV, in Movies, in our EXTREMELY Permissive Culture, in books, in music and even at SCHOOL! My schoolmates, colleagues and some of my friends treat it as if porn is not a problem and even OPENLY boast about their Addiction to Porn. The world is Truly getting worse and each battle is getting harder and harder. Its EVERYWHERE, its influence is everywhere. No matter how hard I run, its always here, since Satan is the Prince of this world. I feel cornered, trapped, hopeless.
I FEEL SO DISCOURAGED!! Its like I am Facing a giant that will never let me pass nor go and every time I try it beats me and tears MY WILL apart. I feel so discouraged and utterly hopeless I am losing my faith. And it gets to the point where I am increasingly feeling hopeless to the point where I wonder whether I should Truly give up or not. And with how I feel about God, who I cant even see and have never spoken to me even when I read the bible doesn't really help at all. I feel that god has drifted away to the point I can notice and he is SO FAR AWAY right now I feel like David when he wrote Psalms 22 and God is SO FAR AWAY from me that I'm having doubts and questioning my Christianity. I already feel like there is no point in believing in a God you cannot see, who dictates YOUR ENTIRE LIFE, where you were born, how long you will live and even how you will DIE. He can Take our Lives when he wants, giving him TOTAL Control over us, like slaves to a master we cant escape. What More can he and will he take from us?! My Morals feel so corrupt and bad, I feel numb when I fall. The First Time I remember watching porn I was so SHAKEN, my consciousness screaming at Me, the guilt and shame afterwards that I felt for DAYS, making me feel emotionally and perhaps even physically unwell. Now I barely feel anything, pushing and running from my guilt and shame like a coward. I'm a coward who wished he was a hero. But I push my feelings away to not Confront them when I get tempted and Fall. I am SO SICK of this Addiction.
And Finally, I really WANT to be in a Romantic Relationship with a Christian Girlfriend in the Future, But I KNOW I need to solve my and defeat my porn addiction first before it otherwise kills and destroys my relationship with her. Thats Why I left my previous relationship during Lockdown with my girlfriend, BECAUSE OF PORN. I couldn't look or speak to her during Lockdown telling her I love her when I Secretly watched porn behind her back, because I felt unsatisfied and lonely, like a Coward. I felt like I MASSIVE HYPOCRITE and the HYPOCRISY made me break up with her. I made my girlfriend (now my ex) cry for bloody sake. I felt so disgusted and ashamed with Myself afterwards that I self harmed. Porn and my fleshly desires cost me my girlfriend and YET IT DOES NOT GO AWAY!
And I barely Pray or Read the Bible. I dont believe and Trust God offers more than Porn, that he should be the source of my Joy and Happiness. I just dont trust when I when I use or have porn. Heck I even say the lords name in vain when something bad has happens just because something bad has happened. I dont see and think that God OFFERS more than porn. I dont trust him. I dont have faith in a mysterious GOD that has never revealed himself or has spoken to me clearly in my Life, A god that can take our lives, take the ones we love and for the rest left behind on this DAMNED planet and Humanity, what does he offer? Porn is a temporary pleasure but a pleasure nonetheless. I do not know why I should Rely on God when I have porn, albeit with shame and guilt. Its like its gotten to the point that I feel like I dont need god when I have porn, but porn causes mass Shame and Guilt that it sometimes makes me want to cry and hurt myself. I dont have faith in a God that seems farther and farther away every second and Day.
Am I so far down in Sin, shame and guilt that I feel like my spiritual life and consciousness are non - existent? Sometimes I feel like I'm the one that abandoned God and left him because I've used porn for so long I believed it was my source of Joy and Happiness when in fact it was and it is something sweet in a pile full of crap.
Oh how I long for intimacy with a (hopefully) christian girlfriend who will then become my spouse in marriage and that our marriage paves the way to Jesus Christ and God. And by intimate I mean intimate as in kisses, cuddles and Hugs with a REAL person that I can Love and Relate to, not some image or video on the Internet, and when we are married I can have sex with her and please her instead of being some dud who cant even last long. But my Porn addiction is like a thorn on my side, a giant I cannot DEFEAT, reminding me of my shame, guilt and failure. I wish so much to be close to God and be on Fire for him like how I once was, yet he is so far away. I feel so discouraged that I am considering to give up, I fought this battle for so long but I am always at Square 1, never making True Progress. Temptation is everywhere, when I truly try to abstain the enemy uses every weapon in the book to break my desire and will and make me fall. Its so normal porn use these days, like NO ONE talks about its social, ethical and personal consequences because it threatens their source of pleasure and Happiness.
I WANT TO AND NEED TO be FREE. FREE FROM THIS ADDICTION. Free so I could maybe start believing in God again and what he has in store for me in my life. But I'm not free, I'm stuck. Its a slippery slope that I keep on falling down. I have been wanting to say this for a very long time in the hopes that something changes, but I never had the courage or time until now. I am Starting to not believe and drift further and further away that whats left of me spiritually is concerned whether I will be saved or not.

So, I went from a Galaxy Note 10+ to the Fold 2. I sat on the fence for quite a long time about it but eventually settled enough to go to the store and check one out hands on. Almost all of my concerns went away when I actually got to go hands on with this thing, so hopefully some of the questions I had and figured out can help somebody else sitting on the fence. Posts from this sub helped me do the very same.
It started when a friend of mine got a regular S20. Holding that phone in my hand and it being comfortable was such a welcome feeling. My thumb could reach the other side of the phone without me loosening my grip on the back and I didn't have to slide the phone down my palm at all to start reaching the top of it. By comparison, my phone felt huge. Seeing another friend of mine start using a Note 20 Ultra, especially with a case on, seemed like the last straw. A larger screen was great, but my Note 10+, being slightly smaller, was already annoying enough to have in my pocket for many of my pairs of pants.
Pocketablity? I've heard many people say that it feels strange or bulky in their pocket. I couldn't disagree more. Instead of pulling the phone out with two fingers out of my pocket enough to grab, I can comfortably reach in, firmly grasp it, and bring it out no problem. It being thicker is nothing compared to it being overall smaller.
Typing? This was a major concern. If I couldn't comfortably use the input method, the phone would be no better than my Galaxy Tab S6. That major concern of mine was gone within about a minute of using the demo in the store. Yes, the keyboard is small on the front screen. Two finger typing suffered a little, but being able to go back to swiping words with my full thumb coverage after not being able to for so long on my larger Note series phones was a welcome change. The only issues come up with words that the phone doesn't recognize, which I just have to get it to learn.
The interior, split keyboard? You can customize it. Make it larger, move it in closer, whatever you want to do. Having to type in any way at all on the larger, Tab S6, was an exercise in frustration. It was just slow because it's too large to comfortably type anything on, even with the keyboard split and reduced in size. It was always easier to just snap on the magnet keyboard and use that if I had to do anything with it. Using it on this? It felt pretty normal. A little muscle memory adjustment was required for when one of my thumbs wants to reach all the way to the other side of the phone, but that went away pretty quick. Typing on the interior is easy and feels comfortable.
Fragility? None. The instant I held the phone in my hands and opened and closed it a few times, nothing about this phone felt like it was going to break just by using it as an every day device. It's sturdy, and it doesn't even think about closing or start closing while it's open. But when it comes time to actually close it? Gently press on either side of the screen (which didn't feel forced, wrong, damaging, or in any way strange) to get it started and it smoothly and easily lets you finish closing it shut. Buttery smooth the whole way through. The screen doesn't feel nearly as "soft" as I thought it would. It feels like glass that I make sure to avoid letting my fingernails touch. Not a fan of pressing down on the screens? I wasn't either, and that's when I discovered I could simply place my thumb at the bottom of the hinge and gently press down while closing it with my hands.
Overall size? While the aspect ratio and form factor are definitely unique, the size of it unfolded is basically perfect. It's exactly what I wanted. A larger screen for when I want it with top tier specs that was still extremely comfortable to use. You have to feel and see it in person to see if it's right for you.
5G? If you haven't used it yet and it works well in your area, it's great. I'm getting 5G service in areas where my 4G would sometimes just flat out refuse to work. Less about the Fold 2 and more about that being a nice little bonus. This is nothing like the transition to 4G from 3G, which felt like a nightmare.
Fingerprint scanner? I didn't pay it much mind until I started using it again, but after going back to a conveniently placed fingerprint scanner, I realized that my in-screen reader was just me putting my thumb in a place it wouldn't normally go, just to shift the way I was holding the phone to start using it normally. On the Fold 2, it's neatly where my thumb wants to rest when I pick up the phone for a quick unlock with no repositioning. I even added a second fingerprint for when I pick it up with my other hand in it's most normal position. I changed the setting to have the fingerprint scanner always on, so I didn't have to press in the power button to make it recognize. It feels more natural like a scanner that would be mounted on the back of a phone.
Speaking of settings I had to change, I made it so that swiping down anywhere on the screen will bring down my notifications, while swiping up will still bring up the apps. After all, what good would complaining about thumb mobility on my old phone if I just traded my horizontal comfortable for vertical discomfort? This little change definitely improved the overall feel of using the device.
Cameras? It's no secret that the Fold 2 didn't get the latest and greatest cameras. For your average, every day, modern cell phone camera... well, it's still great. I didn't have any issues with the set up on my Note 10+ and the set up here is comparable. I lost a little bit on my ultrawide, but it is what it is. I keep my Note 10+ around for a rainy day or if I need it for something else.
Storage? And what would I need that Note 10+ for still? Well, taking a massive hit to my storage was a blow. Losing the MicroSD card slot was a major blow. My previous line of work made it extremely convenient for me to be able to load one device with as much as possible for long periods of time. I took a stock of how much storage I actually needed and ended up with over half of the internal storage still available. I would break out the Note 10+ for a dedicated shooter or video phone if the situation required it.
The loss of the S Pen? When I had to return my Note 7 and switch to using an Edge 7, I hated losing the S Pen. I miss it at times, but having a larger screen replaced the need for that precision input, and the Galaxy Notes app works great as a typing input for everything I used to just write down.
Battery life? Excellent. All day. 25W included fast charging completely sufficient for a quick extra charge should the situation warrant it. My Note 10+ was definitely a little better, but that's to be expected between the form factors.
More on that front screen though. I find myself using it to reply to texts/messages or scroll through apps like reddit and facebook. The longer vertical area is actually pretty nice for viewing more of what's gone by and what's coming up. I could do the vast majority of what I want to do on it with no issue and never have to feel like I absolutely HAVE to open the phone to do anything, but if I want that larger view, it's just a fold open away.
The inner screen? I'll be brief here until a couple of specific examples. It looks fantastic. The screen protector is inoffensive and doesn't smudge nearly as easily as I was led to believe. I love the apps/home/back placement to the right of the bottom of the screen for easy access, although you can move them to the center or to the far left if it's more your fancy. The crease is only visible when the screen is off and disappears before your eyes in all but the most specific of angles and lighting conditions. I rarely find myself going across it and feeling it as many actions or scrolling is done to either side of it. The camera punch is there, and it's in the way sometimes, but it quickly "fades" into the background of my mind and doesn't take away from the task at hand.
The 120hz refresh rate is nice. I didn't really notice it at first, but when switching back to 60hz and back again, the difference is completely noticeable and extremely worth keeping on. Flipping between pages of something, scrolling through a map on google, even changing pages on apps, it all looks so much smoother.
Google Chrome went from the phone version to the tablet version. Tabs are all visible at the top. It's a nice addition with the extra space, but it depends on which screen you launch Chrome on. Launch on the outside screen? It's the mobile tabs when you open it. Start on the inside screen? You get tabs at the top when you close the phone. Have not been able to determine if there's a way to make it alternate, but if it bugs me, I can just close the app and reopen it.
Multitasking? Never something I did much or tried much on a conventional phone, but since it gets talked about so much, I gave it a chance. It's nice. It's really nice. If you find the right combinations of things you want to do, it feels like such a natural progression of what you would have to switch apps around to do on any other device. I've put reddit on the long half of the screen, youtube playing something in the background, while having a text conversation in the other smaller box. Normally I'd have to have a small picture-in-picture taking up screen space for YouTube for a tiny little thumbnail and have to switch between apps for something else. It's not a feature I expected to use as much as I am.
App continuity? You do have to set it up on a per app basis for what you want to be able to continue from inner screen to outer screen, and some apps don't support resizing, but it functions extremely well. Scrolling through reddit on the outside screen, find some earth porn, open up to view it in all of it's glory, and resume on the small screen again? Just dandy.
So then, two of the bigger questions I had.
Video playback on the aspect ratio? The wider the aspect ratio of the original video, the smaller and worse it'll look and feel to watch. Pretty basic, right? Old 90s and early 2000s shows are an absolute joy to watch on it as they take up the full screen with no issues. Stuff in wide screen, even though it doesn't take up the entire screen, is still taking up significantly more of the screen than it would on my old phone. I'm using less of the screen, but I'm getting a larger image out of it. And you, of course, always have the option of streching whatever video you want to fill the whole screen if you're into that. The two full speakers (as opposed to one firing out of the ear piece and being a little imbalanced) is also a very, very nice bonus.
Books/Kindle/Comics/Manga? Extremely comfortable and very clear. Everything is a great size and easy to read. And the best part? The size of the phone makes it comfortable to use for longer periods of time.
That's the biggest issue I've had with my Tab S6. It's a great, full sized tablet... but the size of it doesn't make it comfortable to use for longer periods of time. That goes for both video playback and text/image based reading. The size of the fold is closer to a book, or in the case of videos, it's closer to something that you would be alright with holding closer to your face. I ultimately found myself using it, enjoying the nice large video sizes, but having to set it up on the bed or couch or floor or desk or whatever it might have been.
The absolute, 100% saving grace for this device has been Good Lock with Multistar. Being able to force the aspect ratio of apps that aren't playing nice on either screen has completely saved some of the games and apps I use. If it didn't exist, I'd probably have to play a two phone life for a lot more things. With that? Completely good to go.
Some apps, depending on your rotation/orientation, will leave a black bar along the edge with the camera cutout. I've heard this causes issues for some people but there is a way around it. I haven't ran into an issue quite yet, so I haven't looked into it more.
I've also heard great things about using it with the XBox Game Pass and definitely want to look into that in the future too.
If the next generation of this form factor or something similar, be it a rolling phone or whatever, can return the S Pen or the MicroSD slot or bump the cameras up to something fantastic, I'll be sold on it again. Until then, I've got one of the spigen slim armor cases on the way, and my time with this phone has completely sold me on the form factor.
I often hear people make the comparison of this phone to a Galaxy FE and iPad/Tab S6/7, or whatever combination of two devices it might be. Hitting these specs in a phone, being two-in-one, and not having to keep up to date between apps on two different devices has been worth the premium.
If you're on the fence, so was I. A few minutes of hands on time in the store was all it took to convince me that it was worth it after the research I had done. It's worth checking out in person if you're browsing this sub trying to determine if it's right for you or not.

2020.11.16 16:22 unnecessarycomics How and where to start reading Comics, and which comics to read!

I know this is a long post, and it took me a lot of time to write, so I hope you will show this some love. If you are not a fan of reading this much, you can watch it in video format on our newly started YouTube channel: The link to the video is: https://youtu.be/dxcKytlPzB4 If you decide to watch this, please do not forget to like the video and subscribe for more such content!
While comics can look impenetrable from the outside, I’m here today to tell you that it’s not as hard as you think! At the same time, I’ll clear up misconceptions some new readers have, about starting, and the medium as a whole. Throughout the post, I have also given out a few tips to help you read and enjoy comics, as much as we do! And do not forget to read this post till the end, to know which comic book is ideal for you.
In recent years, comics have expanded and they are not just superheroes comics like the majority of the popular comics were for baby boomers and millennials. Nowadays, you have comics like Saga, Black Science, and Sex Criminals that have made it to the forefront and they are nothing like a superhero comic. DC Comics is home to the DC Universe of characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, while Marvel Comics is home to characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Squirrel Girl. DC and Marvel are known as the “The Big 2” in the comics industry and own the most well-known superhero universes that are now reflected in some of the most popular movies every year. So, if Batman or Captain America is not something for you, then not to worry. Although the superhero comics will always remain dominant, there have been many other genres of comics under Marvel, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Vertigo Comics, and other publishers that have made their way to the forefront. Now, before I tell you which comics to read, let’s Smash Some Common Misconceptions First!
There are lots of misconceptions about reading comics and sometimes these uninformed facts can be a roadblock for potential comic readers. It’s a real shame, as many of these are simply not true! Once these misconceptions have been eliminated, getting into comics will be an easy task.
1) You Have To Start At Issue #1
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to start a comic book with issue #1. For many readers, their first issue was not a #1. It was some random number, sometimes in the 100s. While I do admit, it can be confusing to pick a series mid-story. Although, if you start with an issue that begins a story arc it doesn’t matter if it is not issue #1. As long as you are enjoying the story and/or art it doesn’t really matter where you begin!
Comic Books Are Hard To Find
While comic books are not everywhere, they’re not as hard to find as you might think. From comic book stores, bookshops, online, to your mobile phone, comics can be found in many places.
Comic Readers Community is nerdy and Unfriendly
If your only contact with a comic book lover has been a toxic fanboy on Reddit or the Internet, then you have been lead astray. Most comic book fans are friendly, helpful, and passionate about what they do. They’re willing to have a chat with you about all kinds of things and many of them don’t mind answering your questions. While the unfriendly stereotype used to be true, in the past 15 years comic book community has made leaps and bounds to become more professional and accommodating to even newcomers.
Comics Are Only Superheroes
While the most popular comics are superheroes, there are a vast array of different genres represented such as science fiction, humor, fantasy, memoir, horror, crime, espionage/spy, romance, adventure, war, etc. Some genres you may need to dig a little deeper to find, but if it’s a genre it has probably been done in comics.
It’s Too Hard to Figure Out The History Of Series And Characters
The late Stan Lee is credited for stating “every comic is someone’s first.” It’s a notion that many writers and editors, especially at Marvel and DC, take into consideration when they create comics.
Writers will keep readers in the loop with what they need to know through exposition and other storytelling techniques and editors will often include recap pages at the front of comic books.
Additionally, with the power of the internet, even the most convoluted histories are not that hard to figure out. With sites like Wikipedia, Comic Vine, and a variety of wikis, the answers are at your fingertips. Further to this, it’s not required to know the full history. Just like people in real life, not every single event that has happened to a character informs their current story. Often, a lot of a character’s past is never referenced after a certain period of time. In some cases, they are forgotten about entirely!
Now that we have the misconceptions covered, let’s start with where to get and what comics you should start with if you want to start reading. If you’re unsure, here are some simple questions to help you find an answer:

Your answer(s) could be as simple as “I want to read Batman” to something more complex such as “I am interested in stories that are set in a dystopian future.”
Once you have an answer, you can start to look for comic books that match that criteria. To look for a book you can try a few of these alternatives:
1. Borrow Comics from Friends:
Do you have friends that read comics? If that’s a yes, then beg them to lend you some! Not only is this a free source of comic books but they generally know what stories you enjoy and can help expose you to the right ones.
2. Take Advantage of Comics That Are Free
Before you slap your money down on the counter (or the online equivalent) on something you might not be sure about, I highly recommend that you take advantage of free (and legal) sources of comics. This allows you to start reading comics without financial risk and to get a taste of this wonderful medium.
3. Take Advantage of the Graphic Novel Collection At Your Local Library:
Does your local library have a graphic novels section? If it does, then you should definitely check it out. Good libraries will have a great range to choose from, which will allow you to sample all kinds of different stories. Also, it’s not a big deal if you don’t like a particular graphic novel as you can return it and borrow something else.
4. Visit a local comic book store:
There’s a chance that you might not have access to graphic novels at your local library. So, identify a local comic book shop, pick out the comics you want to start with, or just ask the shop employees to help with your tastes, and voila! Visit the store regularly and prepare to spend around three to five dollars per issue. And enjoy the heck out of comics every week!
  1. Legal ways to read Online:
If none of these worked for you, don’t worry. I have another way out. If you prefer to read digitally – on your phone, tablet, or laptop – then Comixology is the way to go. They have tens of thousands of comics available for sale, will often have generous sales, and have great reading software too. I mean they're owned by freaking Amazon. Most of the free comics come in the form of first issues, previews, and the occasional mini-series from almost every genre imaginable. You’ll need to sign-up to Comixology first before you can take advantage of their free comics.
Coming now to a few comics issues I’d recommend you guys to read, to get you started, here 10 favorites from my list, without spoilers, but with notes about the types of readers that might enjoy them! Followed by a few honorable mentions. But these are in no serial order of preference, so you can just pick anyone that seems to suit your tastes. These are can’t-miss books that just might turn you guys into lifelong fans of comics. So, when the next person asks what your favorite comics are, consider tossing a few of these onto your list.
1) Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
I chose to start with this one because it’s the best comic series of my most favorite superhero. Frank Miller’s mid 80’s re-imagining of an aged Batman coming out of retirement sets up years of the macho, grim and gritty Batman we know today. There’s also surprising humor and inspiration here, in one of my favorite Batman comics, highly recommended for new readers. First published in 1986, The Dark Knight follows an aging, retired Batman in a dystopian future as he faces his own mortality and is drawn back to the cape and cowl. Over thirty years after its debut, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns remains an undisputed classic and one of the most influential stories ever told in the comics medium. Miller’s Dark Knight Returns remains the best way to understand Batman, and much of the broader pop culture landscape, with its endless parade of iconic antiheroes and grim-and-gritty reboots. Miller helped us all understand who Batman is. So, if you’re looking to start with DC comics, please look for this one.
2) Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 & 2
Coming over to the biggest rival of DC, we would recommend you to start with Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1 from Marvel Comics. Before the electronic Stark industry designed suits was a young teenage weirdo who struggled getting to class in time. Ultimate Spider-Man is a great story tackling the humble beginnings of our beloved web-slinging hero. Let’s face it, the original first comics of Spider-Man (Amazing Fantasy) are kinda old and boring, making Ultimate Spider-Man the perfect reboot. In this story, Brian Michael Bendis shows a more present-day Peter Parker and how he embraces the role of Spider-Man in Marvel's second universe. As I read this book when I was a teenager, I will always have this special connection with Spidey. It's just cool how even a superhero has normal high school problems like homework, crappy teachers and even girls.
Ultimate Spider-Man is truly something very special, and the perfect place to jump into Spider-Man. It’s fun, it’s clever, and it’s beautifully constructed. Who would ask for more?
3) Watchmen
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s classic deconstruction of superheroes has been voted one of Time’s 100 best novels, not just graphic novels – novels, and was developed into a feature length film from director Zack Snyder in 2009, and is the inspiration for HBO’s Watchmen series, which came out just last year. The comic series convinced me that comic books could be intellectually rewarding and inventive, and is for mature readers. It features the characters of Rorschach, Ozymandias, Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre, Nite Owl, and the Comedian! When the Comedian dies, a series of events are set into motion that bring the world ever closer to a deadly threat no one saw coming. The plot summary I just gave you, of course, doesn't portray the sheer amount of character development, themes and nuances Moore included in 12 issues. You have to check this out if this sounds something you would like to read. To be a bit cliche about it, Watchmen is the Citizen Kane of comics. And if Watchmen doesn’t sell you on the literary potential of comic books, then we’re just about out of luck.
4) The Sandman
Neil Gaiman is the author of many celebrated comics and fiction. The Sandman is his comic book masterpiece, celebrating a love of stories while covering endlessly cerebral territory. Sandman centers on Dream of the Endless and his realm of dreams, where any story is possible, meaning the book bounces everywhere from a Serial Killer convention to Arabian Nights visions of India.
Also, Sandman is so popular that DC Comics resurrected the brand in 2019 for an expanded Sandman Universe. And hear me out on this one, because a few months ago, Audible and DC presented the first-ever audio production of it. The Sandman falls into the dark fantasy genre such as urban fantasy and epic fantasy. If that’s your cup of tea, go for it!
5) Bone
Bone is a remarkable all-ages fantasy adventure from writeartist Jeff Smith. While Bone can take some darker more frightening turns, it remains a great comic book read for younger and older readers alike. So, if you like adventure or fantasy, you owe it to yourself. The plot goes like this - Three modern cartoon cousins get lost in a pre-technological valley, spending a year there making new friends and out-running dangerous enemies. After being run out of Boneville, the three Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone are separated and lost in a vast uncharted desert. One by one they find their way into a deep forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures. It will be the longest -- but funniest -- year of their lives. But rather than just talk about the book, let’s also look at some of Smith’s art. Because while his characters and dialogue and verbal storytelling are wonderful, one of the foremost joys of the book is how he conveys his narrative through artistic choices. In late 2019, it was announced a Bone series will (finally) be coming to Netflix, meaning it’s likely that reading Bone is going to be as in demand as ever.
6) Saga Comics:
It is often to be considered as “Star Wars meets Game of Thrones.” There are also the comparisons between The Lord of the Rings meets Romeo and Juliet. Saga has 33 issues currently. This book has everything: intergalactic war, star-crossed lovers, high tech, magic -- and all told through a narrator who is a baby for most of the story. The most common comic on any “comics for people who don’t get comics” list, and for good reason. Saga is the romantic comedy space opera from Brian K. Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, The Private Eye) and Fiona Staples. The series is heavily influenced by Star Wars and is based on ideas Vaughan conceived both as a child and as a parent.
There are a million and one comics, TV shows, and movies about space, yet Saga somehow manages to feel completely fresh, infusing modern sarcasm and innovative system design into the well-worn genre. Saga manages to feel innovative and fresh, infusing modern sarcasm and eye-opening world-building into the well-worn cluster of Space stories. More than anything, Saga feels like a story for “adults,” and this Image Comics series is definitely for mature readers only. If you’ve long held the suspicion that comics are junk media for kids, Saga is the type of sophisticated yet fun adventure that can go a long way towards changing minds.
7) Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu
Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Marvel Comics masterpiece is well worth the brief moment of wondering whether Hawkeye could truly have one of the best comics for new readers. The 2012 Hawkeye series is brilliant, fun, and largely avoids complicated continuity questions present in most Marvel comics. All of this makes it a great pick-up for new fans who want to see Marvel at its best. I picked up this story a few years ago, and it was actually a surprisingly good read . Matt Fraction does a great job taking this "powerless" archer into a butt-kicking superhero who is experiencing some sort of hero-mid-life crisis. Artist David Aja provides complementing art that has a sort of "cartoony" feel, which I personally loved. The comic is action-packed, funny and has a really compelling plot. Any new reader will be able to enjoy this as it does not require much background reading as it is sort of creates a world for itself.
8) Black Science
Black Science is a creator-owned science fiction American comic book series by Rick Remender and Italian artist Matteo Scalera. Image Comics released the first issue in November 2013 and it ended in September 2019. Filled with stunning artwork and a trippy-yet-emotional storyline, Black Science is a top-shelf sci-fi adventure. I’m hard-pressed to think of a series in recent memory where the creative team was so perfectly matched. Remender spins a rollicking tale of anarchist scientists, alien death cults, philosophical quandaries, and multi-generational family drama that’s spread across a dazzling array of worlds (both alien and familiar) and blends pulp-y sci-fi and weird fantasy with wild abandon.
Black Science crams in a lot of twists and turns, especially in its final issues — from shifting antagonists to revelations concerning the Eververse’s true nature. And frankly, not all of them work equally well. That being said, it’s impossible to not admire the sheer scope of what the creators have accomplished with Black Science and is a must read for lovers of this genre.
9) Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison & Richard Case
While I love Morrison and Case’s early 90’s DC / Vertigo Doom Patrol, I’ll also be the first to admit I love it largely because of how insanely weird it can get. This is the least straightforward “superhero” comic I’ve ever read, but if you’re interested in some absolute imaginative insanity, Doom Patrol is the book for you. But, note that it is for mature readers only. Doom Patrol is certainly not your average cape comic. Originally conceived in the 1960s, the Doom Patrol was reborn a generation later through Grant Morrison’s singular imagination. Though they are super-powered beings, and though their foes are bent on world domination, convention ends there. Shunned as freaks and outcasts, and tempered by loss and insanity, this band of misfits faces threats so mystifying in nature and so corrupted in motive that reality itself threatens to fall apart around them—but it’s still all in a day’s work for the Doom Patrol. For those of you who might be a little dissatisfied with any perceived monotony in the world of superhero books, Doom Patrol might be just the thing for you.
10) The Boys:
Who will police the people with power? It certainly is a heavy topic to consider, and one that writer Garth Ennis, artist Darick Robertson, attempt to answer by throwing Billy Butcher and his crew at every corrupt superhero in sight. Then The Boys beat them senseless, and sometimes bloodless. This is not a series for the faint of heart. The themes and topics covered, and more so, how they are covered, are raw and somewhat unfiltered. The Boys uses dark humor to introduce the reader to its most uncomfortable scenarios, disarming your sensibilities and making something horrible seem palatable, even for a brief moment.
The Boys is a very over-the-top satire of superhero comic books. Its subversion of the genre makes for a unique and uncomfortable look at the abuse of power by mighty people. The Boys themselves are a fleshed-out group of misfits you will come to cheer for as they enact sweet revenge on all the worst super people you have ever seen. They want what we want, accountability of the powerful. If you enjoy dark comedic craziness, give the comic series a try. Also, it includes a lot of Scottish cussing. I found that enjoyable. If you’ve seen or heard about the Amazon Prime adaptation of the show, it is just a watered-down version for mass appeal. So, this might give you an idea of how dark and gritty the comics are going to be.
Honorable Mentions:
Here are a few other comics that I’d recommend starters as well as regular readers to check out.
1) Sex Criminals
This quirky series is all about Suzie, a woman who can stop time when she has sex. When she meets a guy, Jon, with the same ability, they find manage to use their powers to, of course, rob banks. If you’re trying to sell someone on comics, and they just so happen to like things like laughing and sex, well, you can’t miss with Sex Criminals. And if they don’t happen to like those things… wait what?!
Sex Criminals is a gorgeous book with plenty of hilarious sexual jokes, and a surprising amount of heart. It may begin as an excuse to design porn shop jokes, but after only a few issues Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky have crafted some of the most interesting romantic entanglements and characters in comics.
2) Miracleman
Miracleman is another 1980’s superhero deconstruction from Alan Moore, the best comic book writer of all time. See the Superman and Captain Marvel mythos elevated to a more “realistic” form. Advised for mature readers only.
3) The Bulletproof Coffin + Bulletproof Coffin: Disinterred
If you like the concept of stories within stories, or fiction coming to life and effecting our real world, Bulletproof Coffin is a modern Image Comics masterpiece from David Hane and artist Shaky Kane. Advisable for mature readers.
4) Mind MGMT
Matt Kindt’s Mind MGMT from Dark Horse comics is another modern masterpiece, both one of the best spy / secret organization stories I’ve ever read, and one of the most innovative comics ever. Highly recommended for reading.
5) Maus
Maus is Art Spiegelman’s biographical account of his family’s surviving the Holocaust, as well as his autobiographical account of his relationship with said family. It’s a harrowing, real look at the devastating tragedy of the Holocaust and generational trauma, told with superb skill. Very serious subject matter, so, might not be suitable for everyone.
Reading comics is a blast, so as you get started, remember that this should be fun! If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the amount of material, just know most comic book readers have felt the same at some point, and the best thing you can do is find a starting place from the ones I mentioned and just dive in. Now, I am not saying that you should absolutely read the comics on this list first — but, this is a good starting point for anyone who wants to start reading comics. There are some you can skip. Instead of wasting your time and reading all of the origin stories that every comic instills, you can read these few to see if you like and see if they are for you. But, even if these are not for you, there are some others that may be up your alley as well. This is simply to get your comic book wheels turning and seeing what you like out there.

7) Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu📷

2020.11.16 05:51 IAMaNoObMAster69 Secret porn tube

This is from the game Doki Doki Literature Club. You can download the game here: https://ddlc.moe/ or here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/698780/Doki_Doki_Literature_Club/ on Steam. Happy reading If you found this note in a small wooden box with a heart on it, then *congratulations!* You are probably the first person to read this. I didn’t really plan on sharing this with anybody, but for some reason I think it’s exciting that somebody out there, a complete stranger, will come across this note and read my story. Someone I will never meet, sharing such a personal bond with me. I’m fascinated that either one of us could die - even as soon as tomorrow - with the other being completely clueless to the fact. To you, my entire life is within this note, and so I will live for as long as your memory can carry me. Writing this, I’m wondering if that makes you feel fascinated or violated. It’s so exciting. I’m sorry if my story is a bit disorganized, but I’d like to get it down while it’s still fresh on my mind. First, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a first-year college girl and have led, by most standards, a pretty unspectacular life up to this point. I grew up in an upper-middle class school district with decent teachers. I did track in middle school and some of high school, and I’ve had two boyfriends. Now, I’m studying for a career in occupational therapy, because I feel the field is undervalued and provides tremendous help to people. I’m giving you this background because there’s this strange misconception that if you want to kill someone then you’re either sick in the head or you have anger management issues. But, it’s very apparent that I don’t fall into either of those categories. It’s true that most murder cases are in a domestic setting where someone loses control of their anger or something. But the thing is that those people kill under provocation, whether by a singular outburst or by a slow-burning series of misfortunes. Those people kill because in that brief moment, they want a specific someone, for a specific reason, to be hurt or killed. What I’m talking about is wanting to kill someone for no specific reason, maybe just to see what it’s like. Do you ever get that? I wouldn’t know how others feel, because it’s not something I ever talked about. But I’ve been curious about what it’s like to kill someone ever since I was a child. Not killing anyone in particular, just a random person. It’s always just fascinated me that if I put my mind to it, I can approach anyone, and in five minutes they would be completely gone from this Earth. But I’ve never done so for a couple of reasons. First of all, for most of my life it was logistically impossible for me to do it without getting caught. I only got my driver’s license a couple years ago, and even then, the preparations would take too much time, definitely stirring suspicion. It was only once I started college that I realized this was no longer an obstacle. Another reason is that I was afraid of causing harm to too many people. You might laugh reading that, at how hypocritical it sounds. But, let me explain: Why should I feel bad about killing someone if they’re too dead to care? Who would I be feeling bad for? Contrarily, it’s the grief of the living that I’d rather not be responsible for. Because of this, I knew it would take a good deal of research before finding a suitable person to kill, and I’ve never had the means to do so - again, until I started college. And now, having just experienced it, I’d say it was pretty satisfying in the end. Something I would try again? Probably not, since my curiosity has already been satisfied. It really wouldn’t be the same a second time. But anyway, if by any chance you’re also curious to kill someone, then you’re welcome to take notes. :) *** I started a hobby of people-watching soon after I entered college. People-watching is interesting to me because it’s taking one of the infinite extras in your life and turning them into a main character - without them knowing, of course. It’s so easy to forget that every single one of the hundreds of strangers you pass every day has a life story as deep and complex as your own. One thing I noticed about people-watching, and wanting to kill someone, is that you are in more constant awareness of this. When I find a person to observe, their story slowly becomes more clear to me over time, gaps being filled - it really is amazing. I usually went to grocery stores on weekends and looked around in people’s shopping carts. If I saw something that interested me, I decided to observe the person for a little bit. Of course, since my goal was to find someone to kill, I ruled out anyone who had children or a partner with them. Wedding rings were another tell-tale sign. So maybe once a weekend, I would find someone who fit my criteria, at which point I would follow them home and note their address. From there, it became incredibly easy to investigate a little bit more; most people have normal work hours, meaning I could spend afternoons going through their mail or looking around in their house. I repeated this with several people (and had one close call), but for varying reasons I didn’t really feel satisfied enough with them to kill any of them. I started getting a bit impatient and thought that I might just settle for killing the man named Devon, even though I didn’t really want to kill someone wealthy. But then, I came across someone new - someone who just, felt perfect. The feeling only strengthened as I investigated her further, and I knew that she would be the one for me to kill. A young-looking woman I met at the grocery store, as per usual. She was doing some light shopping with a basket. Her hair was wavy and dark brown, sitting inelegantly on her slumped shoulders and surrounding her tired-looking face. Her bare fingers told me she might be single, but beyond that, my gut was almost certain of it. This woman just seemed so…plain, really. I guess I felt a greater acuity for the personal lives of strangers ever since I started my people-watching. But the way she carried herself, I just got the feeling that if she suddenly died, nobody would be around to miss her. Of course, I still wanted to investigate her a bit. I followed my usual routine of checking out her place during her work hours. I learned immediately from her mail that her name is Linda Watson. Linda lived in a quiet apartment complex, her mailbox easily accessible right outside her door. Instead of quickly shuffling through it, I decided I could take her mail back to my dorm and return it before she was finished with work (she only lived about 15 minutes from me). I did some research and learned how to open and reseal the envelopes without damaging them, which took some technique along with a hair dryer, rubbing alcohol, and Q-tips. This made it easy for me to learn a little more about her. Linda was a 33-year-old woman who worked for a small accounting firm - I’d rather not name the place outright. Her birthday was December 11th which, coincidentally, was approaching in a couple weeks. I also managed to find a bank statement that gave me a nice look into how she’s been spending her past month. It was at this point I realized that my assessment of Linda Watson as an extremely plain woman was pretty spot-on, because there was absolutely nothing interesting on the list. A trip to Old Navy, a bunch of Starbucks, something about $40 from Amazon - no restaurants, no movies, nothing that would really imply she was spending any time socializing. That aside, I also found a cooking magazine, so I guess she was into cooking. Apartments are harder to break into than suburban homes, because there are fewer doors and windows. Every time I got Linda’s mail, I would check the front door and the windows in the back, but they were always locked. This was a bit frustrating because I was really interested in getting into her house. So, I came up with a sort of plan that I thought would be fun, even if it didn’t work. Last Saturday, I visited Linda Watson’s apartment complex as I would on weekdays. The difference is that this time, I wanted her to be home. I thought it would be interesting to have a conversation with her. If I got lucky, I could take advantage of the situation to discreetly unlock a window from the inside. So, I walked up to her door wearing nothing warmer than a light sweatshirt, and knocked. The adrenaline rush was crazy. I was afraid I might screw something up. The door opened, and in front of me stood Linda Watson, exactly as I remembered her from the grocery store. It was at that moment, making eye contact for the first time, that I realized I was running the risk of beginning to care about this person. As selfish as it is, I couldn’t kill a person I cared about, even if it’s a 33-year-old woman standing in a doorway with a slightly perplexed look on her face, giving me a reserved “Hello.” Arms crossed from the cold, I shyly returned Linda’s greeting. I explained that I was walking my dog near the woodsy area behind the back of her apartment, and that he had gotten away. I had been looking for my dog for an hour and was wondering if Linda may have seen him roaming about. Of course, Linda sympathetically apologized for the situation and that she couldn’t be of use to me, but that she would keep an eye out. I wore a defeated expression in response, apologizing in return for troubling her. It somehow went exactly as I had hoped - Linda invited me inside to warm up a bit with some coffee. I outwardly hesitated before accepting her offer, although on the inside I wanted to jump through the door and hug her for cooperating so well. And that’s how Linda Watson ended up with a 19-year-old girl next to her on the couch - who knows if it was just a nice gesture or if she really has no better way to spend her Saturdays than talking to some kid she just met (who happens to be interested in killing her). Linda soon learned that my name is Maria (it’s not) and that I attend the nearby community college (I don’t). I was a little bit nervous that she would ask me too many questions because I didn’t have many answers prepared. I was able to steer the conversation toward her, and she was pretty happy to talk. I asked what she does, and she told me that she works for the accounting firm I already knew about, communicating with outside clients and keeping records. I told her I was pretty nervous about growing up. She told me to enjoy college and to make lots of friends because there’s less opportunity once you start working. When I asked if she was married or anything, she laughed. Of course I knew she wasn’t married, but I wanted to hear more about her love life. She said that she doesn’t currently have a boyfriend (I guess she’s at least had boyfriends, but who knows how long ago). When I asked her about kids, she said she doesn’t want them until she gets a better job. On top of that, she told me that her family has a history of some genetic diseases such as arthritis and depression, which she is afraid to give to her kids. It’s funny that she mentioned that because when I asked to use her bathroom, I noticed a tube of prescription pills on the sink. It was labelled duloxetine, which I looked up later and discovered that it is in fact an antidepressant. I had a joking thought that maybe by killing her I’d be doing her a favor, but quickly decided I was a terrible person for coming up with that. The rest of the visit was pretty dull. We talked about food and some other mundane stuff before I eventually made an excuse to leave. I didn’t get the chance to unlock a window or anything like that, but I didn’t really feel the need to go through her apartment anymore. As early as the drive back to my dorm, I was already thinking about how I would best like to kill Linda Watson. The choice was between effectiveness and fun. I decided to go with fun, because it would be way more satisfying to kind of dissect her as I killed her, rather than just getting it done and calling it a day. Fast-forward one week to December 13th - today, actually. Linda Watson turned 34 two days ago. I made a fun little wager with myself where if Linda was spending her birthday weekend alone, I would pay her a visit and kill her. If she was out or had company, I would stop by next week or something instead. So this morning, I drove over to Lowe’s and bought an axe. Again, I expect you’re laughing, but that’s also kind of the point. An axe is so kind of cliche and a “movies” thing that I actually thought it would be the most fun. Swinging it at someone and everything, it’s a really entertaining image. They actually had a bunch of different axes, so I picked one that had a good weight but was still light enough for me to swing quickly. The drive after getting the axe was when the adrenaline really picked up. All that kept going through my mind on the way over was “Wow, I’m really doing this.” Not in a bad way, just like a surprised this is real life sort of thing. I also got this strange rush of recollections of the time I spent with Linda. It was like my life was flashing before my eyes, except it was just the rather mundane hour I spent with Linda - like snippets of our conversations, the sound of her laugh, her facial expressions and stuff. I also wondered to myself what the crazy serial killers would be feeling at a time like this - schizophrenic delusions? Sexual buildup? I have no idea, but what I felt was kind of like ridiculously alert and numb in the senses at the same time, however that’s possible. Before getting out of the car, I had the sense to stuff the axe into my backpack to look a little less ridiculous walking across the parking lot. The handle was sticking out, but that didn’t really matter. At that point my heart was pounding so hard I could feel my throat throbbing. I tried controlling my breath, but it’s really hard to not breathe fast when your heart is pounding like that. I reached Linda Watson’s door and quietly put my ear to it after setting down my backpack. I heard a voice that wasn’t hers - company? No, it was just the TV, mixed with her occasional tapping footsteps behind the door. I actually kept my ear there for a really freaking long time, because I wanted to make absolutely sure nobody was over. Probably 10 minutes of that and a lot of reassuring myself convinced me. I quietly opened my backpack zipper and held the axe in my hands. My fiercely shaking hands. What the hell was this kind of reaction that my body was making? I told my body to shut up, that it’s no big deal, but of course it wouldn’t listen. It was actually bizarre how much my hands were shaking. It must be the adrenaline buildup. I rolled my eyes at myself and got my hand to rest on the doorknob. If it’s locked, I’ll knock, it’ll be basically the same. I took a deep breath and forced my muscles into action. I swiftly turned the doorknob. Not locked. In one movement, I opened up the door and slipped inside. Linda Watson, just a few steps away into the kitchen. I see - she was in the middle of cooking. She immediately jumped and turned around, startled. I expected that. Quickly, I let go of the doorknob and adjusted the axe into both hands. In the following split second, I realized that she would probably start to make a lot of noise. Looking back, I’m an idiot for not considering that. Just as Linda’s mouth opened to speak - maybe even started speaking - I forcefully swung my axe into the side of her head. But, my axe was facing backwards. I hit her with the blunt end of the blade. I actually did this on purpose, because in that split second I somehow decided that it would be the way to keep her noise to a minimum. It actually worked. I felt barely any resistance in the swing as I collided with her head, knocking it clean aside. Linda’s half-formed syllable came out as a kind of weird grunt - a noisy exhalation is probably the best I could describe it. That happened at the same time as her head smacked into the cabinet from the force, and she fell backwards without any ability to keep her balance. I didn’t hesitate at all to keep swinging at her while she was half lying down on the ground, this time my axe facing the right way. I didn’t really know where to swing, so I kind of just started hacking at her collarbone area and chest. It didn’t feel like the axe was going too deep, but there was a nice “thunk” sort of sound every time the axe embedded into her. I even felt the soft sinking sensation ripple into my hands, like the axe was a kind of physical extension of my sense of touch. On a whim, I swung once at her throat, but most of the swing actually missed and I hit the floor by accident, causing a loud, dull whack to resonate through the apartment. I didn’t have time to think about it. I swung again with better aim and got a more centered hit, feeling the bone or cartilage or whatever is in there, so I must have split it open. Right after that, I decided to swing at her face, and I got this diagonal cut along her nose and mouth, which felt pretty good so I did it once more. I finally briefly stopped to survey the damage. Linda was bleeding ridiculously. The blood was kind of coming out in waves, in sync with her beating heart, probably. It was pooling all around her and riding along the cracks between the tiles. Her light blue shirt was all torn up and stained dark, kind of mixed with a fleshy mess around her chest. It was all just glistening red. Her face wasn’t much better, covered in dripping red at this point, and her lip was kind of hanging off, revealing red-stained teeth in a really weird way, like a zombie or something. Linda wasn’t dead, though. Her limbs were kind of weakly, aimlessly trying to move while she was stuck on her back. More than anything, she reminded me of a bug that you crush but it still pitifully moves its legs around before it dies completely. That’s basically what she was doing. But I didn’t know how long it would take for her to die, or what kind of condition she was in. I ended up grabbing a big knife that was on the counter that she was using to cut up meat. Trying to step around the blood, I reached down and carved into the upper half of her neck, trying to sort of saw it from the left side to the right. It was a little awkward because the area was so soft and squished around the knife as I was cutting. But the sensation was completely different from the axe. It actually felt like I was cutting a tough piece of raw meat (which I guess technically, I was). The blood started pouring out, and I hoped that I severed the most major arteries in there. It must have worked, because after a moment Linda’s limb movements kind of just had the strength drained from them, soon resting still on the floor. I took a few seconds to catch my breath. No time to stick around and think about the experience. I shook the knife blade through a dirty pan in the sink to clean off the blood, then threw the knife into my backpack. I did the same with the axe. I also took her laptop that was sitting on the counter. It had some recipe open for veal and mushrooms. I didn’t really take the laptop to use it, since I have a perfectly good one myself that I got for college. I just wanted to look through it for fun. I finally went outside and closed the door behind me. I got some blood on my sweater and jeans. But funnily enough, I actually anticipated that so I wore dark colors. The drive back to my dorm was just a constant replaying of the experience in my head. I guess that’s still kind of happening even now, actually. But it felt pretty nice. Linda Watson is dead. I kind of let the weight of that sink in. The sensation of having completely removed a human life from existence. It’s crazy. I don’t know how else to describe it. Anyway, I threw the axe and knife into a dumpster on campus, which I think is picked up every Monday, so they’ll be gone by then. My roommate goes home on the weekends, so I have the dorm to myself today. It gave me the chance to go through Linda’s website history. I was right in thinking that’s where her deepest secrets would lie. There was actually a lot of dirty stuff, like the names of websites for porn videos and stories and things like that. Same with her searches. A lot of the websites were boring, like cooking websites and recipes, and game websites like Bejeweled and stuff. I eventually got to the “one week ago” section of her history, and it gave me a chill. There were a whole bunch of searches like “methods of suicide”, “how to tie a noose”, “dangerous household chemicals”, “carbon monoxide poisoning” - like a lot of them. She was probably ready to write a book on suicide after all the research she did. So I guess Linda was contemplating suicide. I wonder if it was influenced by her depression. The irony is actually striking. Maybe Linda was going to die anyway. Or maybe she couldn’t find the courage to do it. If that were the case, I almost literally gave her a birthday present by killing her. That’s actually really comical in a messed-up way, and it leaves a weird taste in my mouth. The part I don’t get is that I didn’t see any of those searches up until the “one week ago” section, nothing more recent than that. I ended up throwing the laptop in the dumpster with the other stuff. It’s been a few hours since then, so I’ve had some time to calmly think about everything. Like I said, it was pretty satisfying and I’m glad I finally got around to it. I feel like I can finally cross it off my bucket list, or like I’m tying loose ends with myself. This is probably the first and last time I’ll write the name Linda Watson - it’s back to living a normal college life, except I might do some people-watching every now and then because it’s definitely fun and interesting. But I’ll always wonder how many people there are like me. I’m sure there has to be a lot, because there is just nothing strange about it to me, being curious about killing someone. Sadly, it’s something that people can’t exactly just talk about, so I guess I’ll never know. I’m sure that anyone would just lie about it even if you asked them. But you can’t help but wonder if that person in the grocery store, who stares at you as you pass by, might be considering what it would be like to kill you. If I could, I would tell them all about it, so they could decide for themselves. But who knows, maybe I got lucky, and that person is you. I actually really, really hope so.

When I was in I was a very good jw, trying my best to help others in the cong. The elders liked me and told me if I continue like that I’ll be appointed as a ministerial servant in less than a year and surely an elder before 25 years old. I was very happy to hear that at 18 then, the problem was that I had a little secret keeping it to myself due to embarrassment. I was addicted to pornography, and couldn’t stop watching even though I was trying to stop. So my logic was: this is a sin that might get me to be DFpped if the elders find out, and Surely if God is directing the appointments in the congregation I surely will never be appointed because I’m not clean.
Despite all of that, I was appointed as an MS 3 months later and then I was giving interviews in large conventions, talks in the congregation, had many assignments, etc. This made me think:”I’m sinning against God so many years and God directs me to have all these privileges?”
All of this led me to conclude that God doesn’t direct the appointments in the congregations, which led me to a domino effect. If this self- experienced-found-out conclusion I made is true, how do I know then if God directs other things like the Judical-hearing? Or even the governing body itself? Or this religion?
These were huge blows that kept triggering my mind to serious thoughts for over a year that quickly cascaded into doubts. And when I started having doubts I was highly curious to check the internet. Then the waterfall went through my face!
I started reading hours and hours the jwfacts website, books from ex-JW activists, and watching many videos on YouTube. I was fully woken up in less than two weeks. I was really mind blown and shaking from the knowledge I found and the things I learnt, like the CSA cases which the organization was hiding from the public.
I resigned from MS the following month and then started slowly to fade. Now I’m completely faded and happy to live with freedom outside of the cult! I even started living a normal sexual life and stopped watching porn.
So in conclusion: Thank you pornography for saving my life!

I woke up rather unexpectedly to find myself lying on a cold, damp stone floor with no bedding. I felt exhausted, almost like I had been awake for days and then finally crashed, only to massively oversleep in an uncomfortable position. My neck and back ached as I sat up and looked around, only to see that I had somehow or other fallen asleep on the floor of a burned out wooden building. The flames were gone, though; everything had gone cold. Still, I recognized where I was by the charred wooden columns, some of which had fallen but others were left standing, a testament to the temple that had once stood.
Remembering what had happened last time I was here, I shot to attention and looked around, but what was left of the building was empty. Myself, those columns, the collapsed scaffolding and the wooden idol were all that remained. I didn’t notice the wooden idol until I had turned around all the way, but when I did I saw that it had changed. The entire thing was different, really. It still showed a bearded man dressed in a tunic and pants with a funny pointed hat, but this time I saw that his cloak was made out of a lion’s skin, what with the way the paws were draped over his chest, and he was seated in an ornately carved stone chair. He still had one foot resting on the withers of an animal, but it was a spotted stag instead of a horse. In the man’s left hand was the same double-bladed axe, but coiled around the handle was a snake-like creature. In his right hand he held the cone of some kind of tree. Above him on the back of his chair was perched an eagle, on whose shoulder sat a frog.
I stood there for awhile, completely transfixed. The entire display seemed to have gone untouched by the fire that had brought the rest of the building down. Furthermore, while I was unable to place where I had seen it before—not just the idol itself, but the image it was portraying—it felt eerily familiar. It was almost like he was someone from my past, from when I was a little kid maybe, resurfacing after years of having been buried in the gray matter of my mind. But it wasn’t just that, it felt like… like he knew me, and I knew him. Like somehow we had once upon a time been friends, maybe even more than friends. This statue and I shared history; we shared secrets. Somewhere along the way we had been separated from each other.
As I stood there staring at him for what seemed like forever, I started to hear a creaking sound, like feet on a wooden floor. His head started to move, slowly. I thought I would feel that stinging feeling in my chest again, but instead I felt a heaviness in my stomach, like I was reluctant to look him in the eye. The closer his face got to meeting my stare however, the more I felt the urge to turn tail and run, so that’s what I did. I turned around and bolted for the door. I remember grabbing the handles and rattling them furiously, having forgotten that they were locked. Just then however, I heard the sound of keys jingling coming from nowhere in particular. “Ring any bells?” I heard Detective Domstedt’s voice in my head. I suddenly had the inclination to search my pockets—they were there. I felt them in my left back pocket; a set of 21st century keys in an ancient, burned out temple. Most of the keys looked like modern car keys, but one of them stood out. It looked… old. I’m not sure how to describe it otherwise, but I knew that there was simply no way any of the other keys were going to fit those doors, so I jammed it in the keyhole and flung them open.
For a moment there I found myself blinded by the sun, but once outside I could see a black dog running down a grassy hill, barking as it went. I knew the location, too. It was W.E. Johnson Park, just behind the cemetery in Richland. My mom called this place the “Luckovich Family Playground” because my uncles were always up to some kind of shenanigans back there in the ‘70s as kids. I was standing just a few yards down hill from a hole in the fence at the back of the cemetery. The same hole that my Uncle Gary had shown me as his means of getting into the park. The dog had run down an overgrown path by a pond I knew to be mostly silted up now, but for some reason was showing with enough water to reflect the crescent moon on a suddenly dusky sky. Right past that overgrown path were some trees which opened up into a clearing where a couple of the paths in the park met. My uncle had bent the front wheel of his bike there as a kid trying to jump between the dirt hills, and Matt had stupidly followed in his footsteps the year before. That spot was far too open for me right now, though. I was afraid of looking backward to see the head of the statue fully rotated and staring right at me, so I felt the distinct need to hide, and that just wasn’t the place.
To my left, the main path that ran the length of the park led to what my brothers and I used to call simply “The Bush” on account of a time we had been visiting my maternal grandparents in the area, and my dad and my uncles had taken us and my cousins hacking through it just for the hell of it all. It was a large section of dense overgrowth of wild raspberries, roses, and blackberries that snaked their way through a forest of cottonwood, black locust, and Russian olive trees. The bushes got so thick for most of it that you had to duck or even crawl under the sometimes meandering roots or fallen trunks of the trees. That seemed like a safer place to me. Safer than following some damned black dog, at least; so I ran for it. I could feel something behind me as I went, though I made sure to never look back and confront it, even when I thought I could feel its breath on my neck. I was so sure that as soon as I got there, as soon as I got to this tiny, overshadowed clearing inside I remembered where the raspberries and blackberries were easy to reach, I’d be safe. Not safe from danger, but from prying eyes.
There was never any proper entrance to The Bush that I remember, but as soon as I came up to the spot on the trail that I knew it started, I saw one. It was overgrown, yes, but it was still as easily distinguished as the trail the dog had disappeared down next to the pond. The farther I followed this previously nonexistent path however, the smaller and lower it got, until I found myself practically sandwiched between the thicket and the ground, crawling atop wet leaves. Once in, I settled down under a low-slung arch of dead cottonwood. I couldn’t see where I had come in anymore, and whatever had been following me was gone. This was the spot that I had found a skunk’s skeleton when I was little, and all of us boys had sat around, endlessly titillated by its still putrid remains. I felt safe enough here to finally lie down and start brushing the moist, sticky leaves off of myself. My heart rate began to slow and I could feel my breaths getting longer and deeper. It’s ok, I thought.
It might not sound like the greatest place, but The Bush was easily the site of what was hands down one of my best memories with my family. It was just us guys—my brothers, myself and my cousins with all of our dads leading the way, machetes in hand on a wild and pointless adventure. There was no objective but conquering The Bush, and conquer it we had by cutting our way right through it. At least, our dads did. The only one of us boys who was allowed to use a machete was my oldest brother, Robin, on account of his being thirteen at the time.
I suddenly found myself wondering if that skeleton was still there or not, seeing as the only thing that would have buried it over the years was all the leaves. I started to slowly wipe away layer after layer of them until I finally turned up some vertebrae. This made me feel hopeful, so I kept going. It took me awhile, since the bones seemed to now be scattered by a decade’s worth of rain, but I finally found the skull. As macabre as it might sound, it was like finding a buried treasure to me, especially in that moment. I could almost hear my brothers and my cousins arguing about what to do with it and what kind of an animal it was, since the only thing that had been left on it by the time we had found it was some white hair along the tops of its orbits. I anxiously picked it up, but as I lifted it to eye level I could see there was a black and red snake hanging from the right orbit. Instead of being horrified or even really surprised, I just looked at it inquisitively. It was a Ring-necked Snake, a common enough sight in my home state, and I knew them to be completely harmless. It looked right back at me, and stuck out its tongue, which tickled my nose. I shuttered, and it turned around and crawled up the crown of the skull and up on to the thin trunk of a fallen tree that sat just in front of me.
Immediately behind the tree was a dense thicket of raspberries and blackberries, so dense that you couldn’t even see through them save for a small opening about the size of my head that was draped over by the web of a large Cross Orb-weaver Spider. I could a hear a sickening gnawing sound coming from that direction, and my heart sank. On one hand I was afraid to move, but on the other I felt an insatiable urge to find out what was making the noise. I slowly moved toward the opening and peered through the Cross Orb-weaver’s web. Behind it I saw a clearing, THE clearing in fact… the one I was searching for just moments ago. Inside was a hideous and gruesome sight.
Strewn about what grass was able to grow between the leaves I saw the naked carcasses of three people. The first one was that of a mature man, maybe in his forties, with long, curly brown hair and a long salt and pepper beard that extended down to the middle of his chest. The second was a younger man, anywhere between his late teens and early twenties, with similarly long and curly hair, but his beard wasn’t more than scruff. The last one was a boy, not quite pubescent as evidenced by the lack of body hair, but probably around nine or so, with the same hair as the other two. All of them were wearing wreathes around their heads, and all of them were being viciously ripped apart by a pack of seemingly emaciated and hairless monsters. These monsters had bodies like human beings, with light brown skin but significantly longer fingers and toes, nails that might as well have been claws, and misshapen torsos. They didn’t have ears or eyes, or even noses for that matter, despite the fact that their faces jutted forward almost like snouts. The only discernible feature of a face that any of them had was a mouth full of razor-sharp, reptilian teeth.
I was paralyzed with fear. I could not only see and hear what was happening, but I could also smell it, especially as the innards of the young man spilled out his belly when one of the monsters opened it up with its claw-like nails. Although they lacked eyes, ears, and noses, I knew they should still be able to perceive my presence either through taste or through the vibration of all of the commotion I had made earlier while combing through the leaves. Still, they didn’t seem to know I was there. They just haplessly tore at the carcasses, biting off pound after pound of flesh or, in the case of the body of the young man, swallowing inch after inch of his intestines. All of the bodies had their faces turned toward me, although their eyes were lifeless and therefore not staring anywhere in particular. However, when I met the dead gaze of the young man, his eyes turned and met mine, and the eyes of the older man and the boy followed.
As I sat there alternating my gaze between the eyes of the three corpses that were now all firmly fixated on me, I started to feel an itch around both my wrists that demanded to be scratched. When I did, I felt something crawling, and I looked down to notice cockroaches skittering out of both of my sleeves. A primal feeling of disgust immediately overcame me, and I desperately smacked my wrists and screamed, but the more I did, the more cockroaches seemed to come out both my sleeves and then my pant legs. What other option did I have? I hysterically tore my clothes off, each layer revealing more cockroaches beneath it until finally I was smacking them off of my naked body. They were everywhere, in my hair and in every last crevice. The only place I didn’t find them was under my foreskin. When I had finally picked the last of them off, I remember trying to crawl away under the overgrowth in a state of utter panic, only to realize that I had now garnered the attention of the faceless monsters I had seen in the clearing. They were sprinting through the thicket, tearing through anything that got in their way, making a hideous dry sort of scream as they went. As fast as I moved, they only went faster. I felt like a weasel in a tunnel as I maneuvered my way through every nook and cranny I could to get away from them, but they were always right behind me. My heart was racing. I could practically hear it pumping in my ears, and the ground was getting wetter and wetter the further I went.
Suddenly I fell face first into what seemed like a pool of mirky water filled with leafs and twigs. I felt their hands grasping at my feet as I fell, so I swam with all of my might until I could hardly breathe and was forced to come up for air. When I resurfaced, I saw the star-lit night sky above me showing with a bright crescent moon. I had never seen that many stars in that park before, since the light pollution from the surrounding towns always blocked them out. Still, I could hear the raspy screams of the monsters behind me, though when I turned around I saw them peering through the thicket. They were apparently afraid to get into the water. I also heard the sound of barking, so I turned around again to see a sharp incline on the other side of what I now saw to be a river, at the top of which sat that same black dog.
The river I was now treading was the Yakima, and I knew it to be on the far side of the park from where The Bush was. There should’ve been houses at the top of that steep incline where the dog now sat, but there weren’t. Hell, there should’ve been a trail and a clearing before I got to the river, but here I was. I knew this river from multiple events in my childhood, from inner-tubing down it with my friends and turning into lobsters from sunburns in the process to multiple times swimming in it. There wasn’t anything really that special about it. It wasn’t very large or very fast-flowing either, and what lay on the other side was just the “snobby” section of town we knew as West Richland. It felt different now, though. I know that might seem obvious of course, cuz there I was with it as my only sanctuary between an ominous black dog and man-eating monsters that barely had faces… but, there was something else. It was like the river was a boundary, and I got the distinct feeling that if I found myself on the other side of it, the side where the dog stood looking down at me from the top of that incline, that there was no going back.
I looked back at the monsters, and then back at that dog. It was still barking, but not in an aggressive way. It wanted me to come up there… to go with it. Where was it going? I didn’t know, but it seemed to be telling me that I had been summoned.
“Aren’t you coming?” I heard a voice say in my head.
It wasn’t in English, but I understood it anyways. I wasn’t even curious as to who was speaking, either. I knew the voice well enough from somewhere. I couldn’t place where, but I knew. I’d never been afraid of her before, and I wasn’t afraid now.
“Don’t you want to?” She said.
I suddenly found myself thinking about my family, my friends, and everything else I would be leaving behind if I found myself on the other side of that river. My heart started to feel heavy, and I could even feel tears welling up in my eyes. I didn’t want to leave. Why was I being put in this situation at all? It wasn’t fair.
“Will I be able to come back?” I asked.
“That’s up to you, isn’t it?”
“What about everyone else?” I gestured with my head backward.
“Is that where you want to be?”
It was getting difficult to tread the water against the current, but I was able to turn myself around to look back at The Bush. Those… things… they were howling and moaning. Some of them were standing right up on the shoreline, but they seemed very apprehensive about the water itself. Still, I found myself trying to rationalize the situation, because crossing to the other side of that river just seemed completely inconceivable, as insane as that might sound. It wasn’t all so bad back there, was it? There were other parts of the park, parts where I could hide from them, or parts where they might not be able to get me at all. Just up river across from an old farm there was an island in the river itself, and if they couldn’t touch the water they wouldn’t be able to get at me there, right? I mean, who said they could even leave The Bush? I didn’t know that for sure.
What was more important was what I stood to lose. I had my mom, my stepdad, my step-siblings, my friends. They weren’t perfect, but they were what I had, and I didn’t know any different. I didn’t want to know any different. My life with them was good. I barely had a care in the world, really. I didn’t have to worry where I slept, what or how I was going to eat. I got drunk and goofed off with my friends, jerked off to porn, watched sports, and hung with my family when the occasion called for it. My biggest responsibilities were respecting my elders (most of the time), my part-time job at Gold’s Gym, doing my homework, and studying for tests. My biggest worry was whether or not I was going to get with Matt that summer. Was I really going to give all that up? No. I looked up at the black dog, and I turned right back around and swam.
