EDIT : Sorry the title is really misleading now, eventually I was just over reacting with the other girl, there's no problem there.
So I'm gonna try to make a long story short first, and ask the main questions with little context right away then write up the story because it is a long one.
TLDR : gf and I were dating for 1.5y, no pb, we move different countries for studies, I get really disappointed bc of corona and my general inability/hard time to meet new people. Communication fucks up at some point, she breaks up bc we are "not compatible".
-I really want my ex back, the reasons we broke up are circumstantial, I checked the reasons she told me she didn't feel happy in the end and I do believe that I can improve myself and work on them so that they won't be a problem again. Do you think this checks out? (I told some friends about it, none of them said "dude that's fkin bullshit").
--Not needed -- -I met another girl, on the day of my breakup, we were headed for something very casual so I didn't tell her right away about my situation, but my feelings for my ex changed and I had to tell her for the sake of honesty. How can I not hurt her? Could you imagine a world where we stay friends? --Not needed --
So, very long story ahead : me (24M) and my GF (21F) had been dating for 1 year and 6 months but due to studying we had to move the relationship into a long distance relationship for the expected period of september to february, we broke up 10 days ago. (1). For the 1 and a half year we dated, there has been nearly no issue.
The problems start when I move to Barcelona (where I study for the last year of engineering school), I get there and realize that I don't know anyone, have to wear a mask everywhere, find out all my classes are online, bars are limited capacity and close early, events aren't planned yet bc most of the students start their classes after me, my landlord is annoying, the neighbors want us to be completely quiet after 9pm... I'm really disappointed and start to really wish I had real classes and friends, my roommates are nice but we don't really share the same activities. On the other hand I keep playing a MMORPG and spend more and more time into it, this made the other problems much worse, and I quit the game after the break up, which made me realize it was unhealthy anyway.
My ex-GF tells me "you have to go outside" "you have to meet new ppl" "you have to do sports" and without telling her I think "she doesn't realize how lucky she is to have real classes", I feel her judging me and feel envy, at some point I tell her "when we discuss me not meeting new ppl it just makes me feel bad, and I don't want to talk about it anymore"... that was a huge disruption in communication. (which was already not so good because I prefer texts than calls, but I didn't realize that it was a big mistake from me back then).
Also, she was (a bit) jealous and told me she was jealous of my roommates (both girls, with boyfriends) and wanted me to reassure her in a call. I hate jealousy and am not jealous at all myself, so I got angry while explaining it was not ok to be jealous that there was no reason for this, eventually she told me she was reassured, but it fucked communication too I think.
So, it's been a bit less than a month we haven't seen each other and communication starts to be around her mostly, I ask a lot of questions about parties (2) and what she's doing in general, I try not to talk about me because I don't have much to say. This is if I am correct the beginning of the end, at the start of october. But the messages kept coming and going, we say each other "I love you" every night, no fights... so I didn't realize at all back then.
Start of trouble : she was supposed to come visit me from 23 to 31 October, but her plane to go back to France got cancelled, on the 12th Oct, she says she has checked everything and that nothing is good for her (15h bus, or very long stopover in plane >9h) she says this and I am feeling like "fuck, I would have done these 15h of bus for her, why isn't she doing them for me?", I told her this and she didn't like it, said that it was "easy to say" but I truly meant it... Then I look for plane tickets for me to go to her place and think "why not look for her, maybe I'll find sth she missed" (3), find some (a bit) more expensive but better ones, show her and tell her "if money is the problem, I don't mind paying the few extra" (4), on friday and she tells me "I'm too tired, I'll speak to you tomorrow", "I love you".
On saturday she sends me a message "what are you doing today?" "Watched a stream, and I gotta work" "we need to talk"... calls me to tell me our personnalities are incompatibles and we don't do enough together, I tell her it's bullshit and that dating her clone is a silly objective... she doesn't want to say "I break up with you" but I get the message, I get mad but keep talking until she said some really hurtful things like "I don't want to come to help you settle in Barcelona". After a few hours, I send a message, "I'm sad, and you wouldn't say it clearly, I hate doubt, are we done?" "Yes we are done, you are a nice guy but... (usual bs)".
--Not needed anymore The other girl part : It's 4pm, I really crave getting drunk, talking to people and doing stupid stuff, so I look for a party, find one with a girl I met a week ago, go there, start talking with people and her, she tells me stuff about her sex life, starts getting close to me and we eventually kiss. I brought her back home and things end here. During the week I see a movie I'd like to see on wednesday, ask her if she wants to come with me, we go there with a friend of hers and one of my roommate, I only kiss her again right before she goes home when we were alone.
On thursday I realize I really want to get my ex back, and talk with friends about it. On saturday I talk with the girl and we have a really nice conversation but nothing very serious. I realized yesterday that I had to tell her, so I did today ("I have to tell you, I am going through a tough break up, and want to get my ex back, I can't keep not talking about this, that is dishonest. Sorry I didn't tell you earlier, my feelings are evolving. You're the only good thing that happened to me in Barcelona, thank you for this".) and she's not answering, I can't tell if it's because I wasn't honest before or because I over-reacted as we had only seen each other twice actually, I really don't want to hurt her... she is really nice and in other circumstances I would have been crazy for her. --END of that part
Why do I want to get back with my ex : I asked her questions on monday 19, she answered and I've been really thinking about what made us break up, I do think they can be fixed and that then the relationship would be absolutely great. I had blocked her after she answered my questions, out of anger, but now realize it was immature and over reacting so I unblocked her on thursday, none of us talked though. The relationship was great, I now see that there were problems like not doing enough stuff together (5) communicating about our emotions in a healthier way (6) playing too much video games (7). I don't think I won't be happy with someone else but I am sure that I'll be very happy with her if we give it a second shot so that's my reasoning.
Thank you so much for reading all of this, and even if you didn't I had to write it to put things in a very detailed way and understand things better so I don't mind.
(1): We met in the town we studied in, but I am doing my last year abroad and she went to another city to go to a university she likes.
(2) : bc I like parties and it's fun when other ppl tell me what they did during parties, not to spy on her at all, yet she didn't like me talking about parties all the time.
(3) : I had already visited her new place before going to barcelona, so I preferred a lot that she would come and not me.
(4) : she lives on her own, her money comes from scholarships and aids while I live from my parents money and have more than enough.
(5) : we still did stuff together, example in 10 days : 3 parties, 1 museum, 1 day shopping for her new appartment, 2 restaurants, but I didn't want to go on walks with no goal (I can't feel motivated for this... for unknown reasons bc I eventually like it) or go to the market with her (bc it was early and I don't wake up early, and I am not so fond of vegetables shopping). So, ok that can be seen as not enough or not new enough, but I am willing to do more and life wasn't boring.
(6) : I sometimes let stuff make me mad until I would explain them really badly so the point was there but not said the right way, I was not discussing my emotions enough.
(7) : I evaluated what I missed from playing a lot of video games, that is a lot : I read 4 books in 3 years while I used to be a big reader, my interest for classes and grades drop really hard when I find a video game I like, I haven't done sport in 10 years, I skipped time with friends and parties to play video games, I have already failed one year because of video games. So I really had to stop. This is regardless of me breaking up or not.
EDIT : removed the other girl part, I sent her a message, she said there was no need to apologize and that we had nothing serious anyway,

Queers and allies:
K9: The happier and more well-adjusted of the Doctor’s two gay robot companions
Ace: Very politically right-on. Practically a canonical queer ally thanks to ‘The Happiness Patrol’. Companion most likely to have joined ACT UP.
Romana (1 & 2): Not merely highly evolved - her wardrobe across two and a half seasons is a clear bid for gay icon status. Marred only by her opposition to the Movellans, the queerest of alien robot species.
Susan/Vicki/Zoe: Groovy space-teens who spent most of their time wrinkling their noses at the backwardness of the twentieth century. Definite allies.
Jo: Empathetic to a fault. Bonds with androgynous hexapods and Spiridons in fabulous purple furs alike. ‘Dated’ Mike Yates and King Peladon, so maybe has a Liza Minnelli-ish tendency to confuse queer friends for potential mates.
Polly: Companion most likely to have shown up in one of Warhol’s Screen Tests.
Tegan: Flight attendant. Based on 'Four to Doomsday,' seems to have studied fashion design at some point.
Steven: He’s from THE FUTURE so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. Plus, that outfit from 'The Gunfighters' suggests either an appreciation for camp or complete security in his sexuality.
Sarah-Jane: Seems perfectly comfortable hanging out with Giuliano and his ‘companion’ Marco in ‘Masque of Mandragora.’
Liz: Too busy to think about this much beyond rolling her eyes at the Brigadier’s fustiness. Companion most likely to come out late in life.
Katarina: Trojan, not Greek, but seems like she’d be okay with just about anything as long as you did it in a temple and offered it to the gods.
Nyssa/Adric: Sexless eighties space teens. Some background cultural context on Traken/Alzarius might be necessary for a final verdict.
Leela: Practices and beliefs of the Sevateem unclear. Hangs out with K9 a lot, but maybe she just doesn’t get it.
Mike Yates: Nobody was fooled by that 'date' with Jo Grant, right? His crunchy lifestyle turn in ‘Planet of the Spiders’ suggests a journey towards self-acceptance.
Turlough: The hardest companion to place on this list; the eighties public schoolboy persona suggests anything from happy, horny sexual lassitude to mean, insecure bullying - possibly liberal doses of both. I’m taking his return to Trion with lots of men in shorts as a positive sign.
Kamelion: C3PO’s camper cousin who works in the theater. ‘Kill me’ energy and abusive relationship with a domineering older man suggest he has a lot of self-loathing to work through. Maybe put him in touch with K9?
Uncertain to dubious:
Barbara: ‘Early sixties history teacher’ doesn’t scream progressive sex/gender politics, but she likes to get loose, as seen in Morphoton and Ancient Rome. Followed a student home rather than calling a social worker, so clear busybody tendencies.
Dodo: Polly’s less cool little sister. Tries a bit too hard to be unconventional (see: slippery accent, ‘fun’ outfits) and often seems pretty uncomfortable when out of her element. Left under a psychological cloud. Could see her trending conservative as she gets older.
Harry: Mid-seventies military doctor who thinks of himself as the epitome of common sense? Dunno, but I'm not optimistic.
Mel: Yes, Bonnie Langford’s theater-kid energy and those loud outfits might seem promising, but Mel’s description of herself as “about as truthful, honest and as boring as they come” and her roots in Pease Pottage smack of potential letters to the Daily Mail.
Victoria: An actual Victorian (no relation). Strong tendency towards primness. Still, she was quick enough to try on a minidress and settled down in the sixties, so she *might* be open to greater sexual freedom.
The Brigadier: If sexual panic wore a uniform, it would be called Alistair. In ‘The Three Doctors’, he has a hard time believing the TARDIS can travel in space after *years* of working with the Doctor & Jo, so adjusting his mentality to fit new paradigms does not seem to be his forte. Entanglement with the British establishment during the years of the Cambridge spies and Jeremy Thorpe scandals probably wouldn't improve his outlook.
Jamie: Unlike Victoria, hung on to his kilt like grim death. Not someone to abandon his comfort zone easily.
Ian: Barbara x Harry = Ian. Would surely think of himself as 'compassionate'. Companion most likely to support conversion therapy.
Ben: Polly definitely had friends he wouldn’t have been comfortable around.
Benton: I would not like to be the guy who tried hitting on Benton.

Sort of inspired by the discussion on this post: reddit.com/batman/comments/jh2dk9/my_batman_movie_idea/g9vsqhh/context=3
The movie would be basically neo noir, and take place in either the late 30s or early 40s. It would feature a young Bruce Wayne, in his 20s, starting out as Batman (his parents were killed by a desperate mugger who'd lost everything during the early years of the Depression). He'd already be Batman at the start, like in the 89 films- if I showed his parents' deaths at all, it would be mid-film in a flashback (and I might not, because we can only see that scene so many times before it stops being at all interesting).
It would start with Bruce taking down mobsters while trying to rebuild his family's fortune (they lost a lot in the Depression), but in the course of doing so, he'd stumble on a Nazi spy ring, and the main plot would be Batman vs the Nazis. The villain would be a corrupt Gotham industrialist and business rival of Bruce's selling arms to the Nazis and plotting to overthrow FDR and install a fascist government in the United States (inspired by the Business Plot of 1933, when a group of bankers allegedly attempted to recruit retired Marine Corps General Smedley Butler to overthrow FDR- Butler blew the whistle on them, but nobody was ever prosecuted).
Gordon would pretty much just be himself- the classic noir archetype of the Private Detective's friend on the force. Alfred would basically be his usual self as well.
Selina Kyle would be a sex worker acting as a double agent- a lot of her clients are mobsters, and she then feeds information to Batman, and she'd be his love interest for the film (BatCat forever!). Though its more the noir convention for the love interest to meet a tragic fate, I think I'd give them at least a semi-happy ending, because fuck fridging. I'd also definitely go with a non-white Catwoman- the discrimination she would face as a result, the limited opportunities keeping her in a life of poverty, would be both what pushes her into a life of crime, and representative of the prejudices of 40s America.
Joker would be a secondary villain- he would be a down on his luck drug-runnebootlegger who got disfigured when Batman busted his gang. He would volunteer his services to the Nazis, only to try to double-cross them (the Joker doesn't have political loyalties). He'd end up getting shot, I think, and falling into Gotham harbour. But his body would never be found...
Another idea I had was a more sympathetic, semi-good-guy take on Penguin. Basically borrowing the idea from the Harley Quinn cartoon (don't know if its been done before but that's where I know it from) that Penguin is Jewish, and making his family refugees from the Nazis. Penguin is part of the Mob, but would feed info on the Nazis to Batman because they forced his family to flee Europe.
Could do something similar with Robin too- IIRC Dick Grayson has Romani heritage in canon, which is another group persecuted by the Nazis. Maybe in this version his parents are killed by one of the Nazi spies.
Barbara Gordon in this continuity would want to be a police officer like her father, but 40s sexism being what it is, that isn't an option for her. So she'd put on a costume and imitate Batman because its the only way for her to fulfill her dream of joining law enforcement and following in her father's footsteps- ironically, by breaking the law.
Lois Lane and Clark Kent could cameo as Daily Planet reporters, just as a nod to the existence of the larger DC Universe.

In the case, Red argues that the critical assumption Liz is making about the serial killer is wrong. Red believes the killer to be a "delicate doe".
The most critical assumption you're making about The Deer Hunter is wrong.... This brute they call The Deer Hunter isn't a buck at all, but instead a delicate doewhile Liz argues the killer is a man:
Our suspect is patient, calm. He likely spends hours scouting the prey. He's only interested in big men, the ones who are hard to take down, like the big bucks in the wild. Now, you're looking for an incredibly smart offender, highly organized. White male, likely 35 to 40. It is the sport that he's seduced by, the ritual of the hunt. When he does finally make his move, it happens fast, striking in a blitz-style attack most never see coming. His heart-shot prey rarely make it over 100 feet before bleeding out. That moment is everything to him-- the rush of control. The typical mutilation killer focuses on a specific area of the anatomy that suits their interest-- the face, the eyes or mouth, the extremities, hands, breasts, genitalia. But this one's different-- he's interested in total domination of the body. He guts them, removing the organs with surgical precision, but then leaving them in a pile.https://preview.redd.it/nuatboee01v51.png?width=1006&format=png&auto=webp&s=1bb0d5572599ed2a61358d28693c5e1792787b5c
But these aren't sex crimes, which indicates they are instead crimes of domination, an effort on his part to gain control over men who, based on their physical similarities, represent a man who once had dominance over him-- a father, an older brother. It is my belief that "The Deer Hunter" is, in fact, a very slight, rather weak man.
REPORTER: You're not looking for The Deer Hunter.... The first six victims, Mark Rodgers through Perry Holloman, he was experimenting. The field dressing became cleaner, he switched from a folder to a field blade—The Deer Hunter was actually a relay team of husband and wife. The first killer was the husband. A man who was, just as Liz had observed, made to feel less by his father, and who took down men to dominate them. But the second killer was his wife, who came upon him and killed him, then decided to use his MO to fulfill her own agenda:
We didn't overlook that. He was learning, evolving.
Evolving implies that he wanted to improve.
Are you saying he didn't?
The techniques and incisions used on the last six victims are all identical. The Deer Hunter loved to explore. There's no way he would repeat himself.
You think we're dealing with a copycat.
The Deer Hunter is an artist. The guy you're looking for is a forger.
TRACY: I came by the house one night to get my things. I thought he was gone, but he was in here, in the garage. He had blood on his mouth, on his clothes. The Deer Hunter had been all over the news. So, in that moment, I knew what he'd done. And I tried to leave, but but he came towards me. He knew I knew, so he couldn't let me go. And I'd never held a weapon. I-I-I-I I'd fended him off with a knife before, but that? I never held a bow. Before I knew it, the arrow went straight through his heart. And I thought about calling the police, turning myself in, but then I realized "You could continue".... All those women Whitehaven had helped, just like me-- I could give them their lives back by becoming him.https://preview.redd.it/3mrpzzir01v51.png?width=1011&format=png&auto=webp&s=68467ac5e1883d02174cfe0d4efc8e69770f2857
RED: You were right about The Deer Hunter-- he was a man.The lines have been used by the Rederina fans as a clue to Rederina. But the parallel is not logical. This case is not about a woman who became a man, this is about a husband and wife using the same moniker to commit crimes with different agendas.
LIZ: And a woman. We were both half right.
Together, we were right.
I made some calls, cashed in a few favors from friends working in counter-intelligence. Oleander was the name of a Russian operative active during the Cold War.but let us examine what is actually being said, rather than the result of an investigation that seemed curiously inconclusive:
A Russian agent?
I'm not sure he's even still alive. A few years ago, the CIA thought he might be living here in the United States under an assumed name. That was never proven. No charges were ever filed.
Thank you for this.
Agent Keen, be very careful. If that man is the operative they call Oleander, he's extremely dangerous. And he won't appreciate FBI agents dropping by to ask him questions.
Well, the box is registered to a Tracey Ivers, but that's the guy who picked it up.and curiously, Tracey or Tracy, is an unisex name, used both by males or females.

My fiancé was introduced into meth by force about 4 years ago, got clean about 3 year ago and we started dating about a year ago, this is a m/m relationship btw. Now we have had our little issues here and there, we broke up for a like a week back in July got back together after we worked out our issues. We’ve always worked them out and had a pretty strong relationship at least I thought. He has had his relapses here and there but he always comes clean with me about it and tells me how much he regrets it (he has a lot of personal issues he’s dealing with in life which have triggered these relapses). About 2 weeks ago he ended up cheating on me and I found out that night, I confronted him and he denied it even though the security camera looking out the porch window captured the noise of him having sex with this other guy. He then got mad about it and accused me of spying on him and wanted to stay at his dads for a bit. I got a little mad and he said he didn’t want to end the relationship but he needed his space. He goes to his dads and I surprise visit him and find that guy up there in his old bed.. he end up going on a methed out trip to another city having sex with this guy and other random people and comes back yet still wearing his engagement ring..he lied about going to that city, he still lied about the cheating and refuses to admit he’s back to using (this isn’t a relapse anymore) I found out this other guy was a meth user and that my fiancé has been using almost daily with him for at least the last 2 weeks maybe longer. Now he’s saying he hasn’t loved me in a while and broke up with me and seems to have jumped into a relationship with this guy after saying he wants to be single to work on himself. He went from writing notes on our kitchen todo board about how much he loves me etc to seemingly hating my guts within a weeks time, He’s snappy and rude, kinda paranoid acting and lying about everything.. I still love him even after all this, I do believe in 2nd chances and I do blame the meth and just want him to get help. I just want to know..
Could meth be the reason he may ‘think’ he doesn’t love me? Or does he probably actually not anymore? Honestly I just want him back and I’m reallly just hoping he’s saying that because he’s not thinking straight. I can’t believe he would just stop loving me practically overnight like that..
How would I go about getting him help.. his family doesn’t seem to believe in rehab. He’s on probation so I feel there’s not a lot I could do without risking him getting sent back to jail.
If you need any more info let me know.

Dafuq was Hayato doing? Like he’s 7 years old or somethin, he really jackin off at that age? Also how did he get that camera? Like it was an expensive ass camera, it was barely noticeable and could zoom in so far you could see what someone’s writing, so it definitely was expensive, so how did he get the money to buy it? Like he couldn’t get it from his parents cause they’re broke as hell, so where did he get the money to buy it? If he stole money from his poor parents, how did he even get the camera without his parents noticing? Like did they not realize a good 10k was gone from their bank account? And how did he install the camera too? Cause installing cameras takes electricians and other guys too, which also costs money, so how the hell did hayatos parents not notice this? Also why was he doing this, I seriously doubt he’s jacking off at age 7, did he anticipate his real dads identity being stolen by a serial killer??? And he’s fucking 7, how would he know to do all this shit, like he’s still in elementary school bruh, and here hayato is pretty desensitized to his parents fucking so he must have been looking at them fuck for a good year, so if he really did do all this shit he did it at age fucking 6, and if the camera came with the house why the hell would a house need a high tech security camera??? Seriously how did hayato get that fucking camera??? And why was he even using it to spy on his parents fucking?? Like what the fuck is wrong with that little shit? First he steals his parents money, and btw his parents are struggling to pay rent, second he pays to get the camera, and for some reason the parents didn’t notice their money was gone, then he hires handymen to set up the camera, also costs a lot, and then uses that camera to watch his parents fuck. Not only is hayato an inconsiderate bitch with no sense of money, he’s also a fucking creep who likes to watch his parents fuck, and as soon as his depressed mother is feeling happy again hayato thinks something is “wrong” like bitch be happy for your mother, and his first instinct after seeing his mother happy is too look into the secret 10k porn camera and search for evidence and some shit. Also hayato did this shit when he was like 8 or 7 or something, he installed an expensive ass camera to watch his parents fuck, and hayato is fucking 7, like he couldn’t even fuckin jizz or some shit, which means that dickhead was just staring at his parents fucking, like what the actual fuck is wrong with hayato, like he could have been sorta normal and go out and buy a fuckin porn mag or some shit, but he decided to buy a 10k camera, install it into his PARENTS room without them knowing, and stare at his PARENTS FUCKING EACHOTHER. Like what the actual fuck is wrong with him, like araki could have done something like make hayato look in his parents room for his schoolbag or shoes and notice his dad writing his name over and over again on that piece of paper, but he thought having hayato look through a 10k secret camera which is established that hayato uses to watch his parents have sex, was the best way to go about things. Seriously, this sounds like the fucked up backstory of a serial killer, like this sounds like something Kira would do as a kid, but this backstory is about one of the main heroes! Like how are we supposed to look up to this creep? Case closed, hayato is fucking weird.

2020.10.18 19:28 Odd_directions There's a day hidden between the days
I’ve stumbled upon something that concerns everyone, something so disturbing that falling asleep will forever remain a terrifying ordeal to anyone who knows about it. It’s all around us – an omnipresent horror – and yet it’s nowhere to be seen. I’m not here to explain it – I’ll leave that to someone more suited for the task – I’m only here as an involuntary witness.
My awakening, which is what I’ve come to call it, happened yesterday. I was homesick in my small New York apartment. I was on the couch in my underwear watching the news, drowning in tissues and eating cereal even though it was dinner time. It was a typical sick day for a bachelor in his thirties, that is: completely uninteresting. That’s partly why this is so difficult to explain. There weren’t any warning signs, not even an uneasy feeling. I went to bed early, expecting the next day to be a repetition of the day that had passed, and I was lulled to sleep by the ambient sound of the New York traffic outside my window.
Startled, I woke up to the unusual sound of silence. My heart was beating rapidly as if I had already noticed that something was wrong. A bluish, electric light shone through the window like a lightning bolt had been frozen in time outside. I looked at the alarm clock on my nightstand. It said it was midnight, but I soon realized that the clock had stopped.
I felt a bit feverish, but I was clearheaded enough to tell the difference between a dream and reality. The light from outside, combined with the eerie silence, confused me. I got out of bed with a groan. First, I sat on the ledge and tried to collect my thoughts, and then I walked up to the window to see where the light came from.
I expected a huge spotlight pointed at my window, but that wasn’t it. The strange voltaic light covered the entire city, as far as I could see, but even though the light was everywhere it didn’t seem to come from anywhere. Down on the street, I saw that every car had stopped and been abandoned with their doors still open. Did I miss an emergency alert? I couldn’t fathom what was going on.
Two people, a man and a woman, stood on the sidewalk. I was relieved to see them, but after watching them for a while I realized that they weren’t doing anything. They were just standing there, like mannequins. I turned on the TV to see if there were any news about what was going on. They were sending live, which was expected given that the news channel was broadcasting all the time, but the news anchor wasn’t saying anything. She stared into the camera without blinking a single time. The blue-white light from the outside illuminated the right side of her face.
From the left, something strange entered the frame. It looked like a tentacle, but it didn’t have any texture. It was pitch black. It slowly moved toward the woman’s head. Its movements were fluid, almost as if it wasn’t affected by gravity. Even though I knew that the woman was sitting in a studio several miles away, it still felt uncomfortable being stared down by her while that thing approached her from the side. I flinched when the tentacle effortlessly, without causing any physical damage, entered the side of her head. It just phased through it. A shadow from something large nearby fell over her, and then she let out a senseless scream of horror.
I immediately turned the television off, almost dropping the remote. What the fuck was that? My mind was in a disarray. I looked out the window again. The people were still standing there, motionless. I noticed a few more people inside the cars. The traffic lights had stopped, just as my clock. It was as if everything had been frozen in place.
I stepped away from the window. A shadow had appeared on the ground. I carefully peeked outside to see what cast it. It slowly moved into view. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a huge, squid-like being floating above the ground. I recognized its tentacles from what I had seen on the television. It approached the people standing on the sidewalk and slid two of its tentacles into their heads. They didn’t seem to notice anything of what was going on.
This time, there wasn’t any screaming. The couple just took off all of their clothes and walked away, as if controlled by the being floating above them. I tried to see where it was taking them, but they walked out of view. Next, another black squid appeared. It phased through a building, just as if it didn’t exist on the same plane of existence as ordinary matter. This made me feel unsafe. It meant that there was no way to keep them outside. They could just float into my apartment at any moment.
I sat down with my back against the wall. My thoughts touched upon every possibility I could think of, everything from a sudden onset of insanity to an alien invasion. I crawled into my bathroom and lay down in the tub. It wasn’t safer there, of course, it just felt that way. I couldn’t tell for how long I stayed there, but it must have been for at least half a day. After that, in a blink of an eye, the strange light shining into my apartment disappeared and the sounds of the city returned. I picked up my phone and looked at the display until it finally showed one minute past midnight.
Tired, I climbed up from the tub and looked out the window. Everything seemed to be back to normal. The cars drove by like normal. No one had noticed the mysterious twelve hours that I had just experienced. Except… The couple that had been led away by those beings weren’t there anymore. They never returned.
As you can probably understand, it felt as if my entire world had fallen apart. I quickly put on a pair of sweatpants together with my stained robe and ran outside. People stared at me condescendingly as soon as I exited the building. I didn’t care. I needed answers. Someone must have seen the couple vanish from the sidewalk, I thought. I ran up to a cab and approached the driver.
“Excuse me!” I yelled even though I tried to speak normally. “I live next door and, um–“ The driver looked at me as if I was a meth addict. I didn’t blame him. “Did you see the couple that stood right there?” I pointed at the spot where they had been standing. “I saw them from the window, but–”
“I didn’t see any couple,” the man said.
“Are you sure because–“
“Dude,” he said. “I’ve been staring in that direction since I parked here and I didn’t see any goddamn couple.”
“But they took off their clothes!” I said. “How could you have missed that? Look, the clothes are right there!”
I picked them up from the ground and showed him.
“Hey, dude, don’t bring that trash into my car!”
“But they were right there!” I yelled. “Hey, you there!” I turned to a lady waiting for the bus on the other side of the street. “Did you see the couple standing over there?”
The woman shook her head dismissively.
“Freaking crackhead,” I heard the driver whisper before he drove away from me.
I felt stupid, even though I was sure I was right. The clothes on the ground proved it. I saw that couple take them off. If that was a hallucination, I thought, the clothes wouldn’t be here now. I returned to my apartment and turned on the television again. The news anchor reported on the news, as usual, oblivious of the tentacle in her head that had made her scream earlier.
I sat down on my bed and tried to make sense of what had happened, but I was too tired to think. I hadn’t slept for an entire day worth of time, and yet no time had passed at all. The only thought I managed to produce before I nodded off was that I had been stuck on some kind of surreal crossroads between this day and the day before. I had no idea if that was a proper way to describe it, it was merely how it felt. After I woke up – in the middle of the day – my experience from midnight lingered in my mind.
I managed to think about it a bit more clearly now that I had slept, although I still couldn’t make heads or tails of it. It was just as if the entire world had been put on pause during those hours, allowing those horrible creatures to do whatever they liked to us. I left my apartment to get some air. The woman’s dress was still laying on the street, blowing across the sidewalk with the wind. Did anyone miss her, or had she disappeared from everyone’s mind just as she had disappeared from the world? Questions like that bounced around in my head. I stopped at a street corner and looked up at the sun with squinted eyes. This was something more than even the most far-out theory I could imagine, such as an alien invasion. It concerned reality itself. How else could the entire sky have turned into that strange, electric blue? The normal sky felt off somehow now. It didn’t look any different, but after having seen what I had seen earlier I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was nothing more than a picture projected on a vast screen. It left me with the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped between the walls of a house without an outside. It made me dizzy. I couldn’t stay outside, because it didn’t feel like outside anymore, and I ran home again.
Later, as the watch on my wall slowly approached midnight, I considered taking some sleeping pills. I didn’t want to wake up in the same, strange in-between–day as before. In the end, however, I decided against it. I needed to know if it would happen again or if it had just been a one-time thing. So I sat at my kitchen table, anxiously waiting for the final hour of the day to strike.
The blue light flooded my apartment the same instant the watch on the wall stopped ticking. It wasn’t over. Just moments later, one of the enormous, floating squids passed through my living room. I froze in my place as I watched it exit through the wall on the other side of the room. This can’t be happening, this can’t be happening, this can’t be happening. I wanted to escape, to run away, but there was nowhere to go. What if they saw that I had broken free from the state of trance that everyone else seemed to be in. Everyone else? I sneaked over to my computer and watched a live broadcast on the BBC. The same thing was happening there. A man had stopped moving in the middle of an interview, but he was still talking. It wasn’t English, though, but some kind of gibberish. Tower Bridge was visible behind him, and several creatures soared in the air around it. Just to make sure this was a truly global phenomenon, I went to YouTube and clicked my way to a live stream of the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo. All the cars had stopped, and the black cabs reflected the buzzing, blue sky. The people either stood perfectly still or walked around in strange patterns. One of them laughed hysterically.
A noise came from upstairs. I quickly closed the laptop, afraid that someone might have heard me. It sounded like a struggle. A frail, old lady lived in the apartment above. I couldn’t imagine her being capable of making those sounds. Worrying that she might be in trouble, and also because I wanted some answers, I decided to sneak up to her floor and see what was going on. The hallway outside my front door was silent and vaguely illuminated by the strange light from the outside. Ascending the stairs, the atmosphere got more and more electric. I slowly approached my neighbor’s door and put my ear to it. Her apartment was quiet now. I looked through the letter slot. At first, I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but then a flickering shadow on the floor caught my attention. I stood outside the door for a few moments, hesitating, before I decided to try and open it. Perhaps my neighbor was awake just like me, I thought as I slowly turned the doorknob.
“R-ruth?” I whispered.
I didn’t see her, just the strange flickering shadow on top of the Persian carpet. Then I looked up at the ceiling. Ruth, completely undressed, was spinning around at ludicrous speed in the middle of the air. For a few seconds, I just stood there and looked at her in disbelief, but then – which was common for her when she walked down the hallways with her walker – she urinated. The entire room was sprayed with her piss, and some of it landed on my face. I quickly withdrew from there and ran back to my room where I made sure to clean myself.
I looked out the window. Was I truly the only one awake, able to see what was going on? I picked up my phone and tried to make a phone call to a friend. I didn’t expect it to work, but after about five ringtones he picked up. I was overwhelmed with relief.
“Yes?” he said.
“Hey, man, it’s me–“ I said, but was interrupted.
“Yes?” he repeated.
“Are you seeing what is going on?! I mean, it’s like the entire world has turned into–“
“I’m a forester, not a historian.”
“E-excuse me?” I said, feeling my panic coming back.
“Following the direction of the screaming, you’ll find the big, black moose’s head at the entrance of a tunnel.“
He was clearly not himself.
“Come on man, snap out of it!” I said, holding back my tears.
“Please return me to my original form... please.”
He sounded less robotic now. Did I somehow wake him up?
“You there, man?!” I yelled. “Stay with me, okay, I’ll–“
“The muscles of my limbs are stretched to their limits.”
He was sobbing now, whispering the words into his phone.
“Are you hurt, man?” I asked. “Did one of those creatures–“
“As I am dying, my internal organs shift inside…”
He was crying now.
“Shit, man…” I didn’t know what more to say. “Listen, don’t go anywhere.” I looked around for my car keys. “I’m coming to–“
“I can feel them shifting in my flesh, and the sheer mass of it is so great that it shakes the grounds as I stagger and tremble to my feet.” I listened to him while I grabbed my car keys from the cabinet in the living room. “If only there were a way I could stop the things in front of me!”
“W-what,” I said, “what’s in front of you?!”
“The smell of blood surrounds me.” He kept talking as if he didn’t hear me. “Blood and death. It’s everywhere. Bodies of the living are coagulated and blood gushes from their wounds.”
“Are you at your place?”
The dullness in his voice was back.
“Stay with me, man!” I said. “Don’t–“
“I’m a forester, not a historian.”
“What does that mean?!” I yelled. “I’m coming!”
The only response I got to that was a petrifying scream, and then the phone call ended abruptly.
Outside, I immediately noticed the lack of weather. There weren’t any winds, and the temperature was the same as inside. The pigeons on the sidewalk had stopped, just as if someone had put them on pause, and a little boy stood in the street corner making jazz-hands over and over and over again while blood dripped from his nose. I didn’t know how to blend in since everyone was acting erratically, so I didn’t even try. I just ran to my car, put the key in, and started the engine. But before I could drive away, the little boy jumped in front of the car – still making jazz-hands – and blocked my way. More people gathered around the car, mumbling nonsensical words.
I climbed on top of my car through the sunroof. An airplane was frozen in the middle of the sky and one of the horrifying creatures was leading one of the passengers outside with its tentacles. I had nowhere to go. The people weren’t attacking me, but they made sure I couldn’t escape from where I was. One of the creatures came floating by, casting its enormous shadow on the street. Did they know about me? I stood on my car's roof, yelling at the people to wake up until my voice failed me.
“Why aren’t you listening to me?!”
“You’re crazy!” someone yelled back.
“That’s why you’re in my room!” a little girl yelled. “Get the fuck out.” She laughed. “Also, this is why I’m still here, doing this shit.”
“But you’re not saying anything!” an old man yelled at me.
I sat down and put my face in my hands, giving up my attempts at reaching out to the people. It’s hard to say how much time passed while I sat on the roof of my car like this, but I eventually stood up again – ready to jump over the crowd.
One of the creatures ominously appeared from beneath the ground, just a few hundred meters away from me. It floated toward me, reaching for me with its enormous tentacles. Although it was moving relatively slow, I would never have been able to run away from it on foot. Its ability to phase through anything made that impossible. The closer it came, the more electricity filled the air. My hair stood on end, positive charges rising through me. I climbed into my car again, turned on the engine again, and – acting purely out of desperation – put it into reverse gear and hit the pedal as hard as I could.
The crowd dispersed quickly, but I still felt a small bump under my tires. I didn’t have time to think, I wasn’t going to let that beast penetrate my brain with one of its hideous tentacles. I swung the car around and zigzagged between the cars in front of me until I reached a relatively empty pedestrian street where I hit the gas as hard as I could. Two of the creatures phased through the buildings next to me, and several more descended toward me from the sky.
I drove around for a long time, hopelessly trying to escape the monsters that relentlessly chased after me. I only stopped once to push a stroller off the sidewalk I was driving on. The baby inside it was wailing, but no sound came from its mouth.
I drove past individuals partaking in the most bizarre behaviors I had ever seen in my entire life, the least weird being a young woman in a business suit having sex with an old taxi driver on the hood of his car. From there, it only got worse; a middle-aged man was binge eating all the fecal matter he could find inside a dog park, a two-hundred-pound man was standing on his head with an eerie grin on his face, a teenage girl was holding her own eye – still connected to her skull – in her hand, watching herself sing a lullaby.
Manhattan, as well as the rest of the world, had turned into a living nightmare under the oppressive presence of the black, giant squids. I thought about the people around me, and everyone else as well. Tomorrow, they wouldn’t remember anything. To them, it would be just as if it had never happened at all. But it did happen, that guy really did fill his mouth with dog turds and that lady really did have sex with that old man… For how long has this been going on? I had no answers to my questions, just more questions. Have I been acting like this between the days as well, perhaps for my entire life? The thought of it made my stomach turn.
I took a sharp turn onto Park Row, aiming for the Brooklyn Bridge. When I got there, I stopped in the middle of it. Several creatures approached me from both ends. There was nowhere for me to go. The East River reflected the galvanizing sky and turned into a shining, white silver. I walked over to the edge and grabbed the railing with both hands. For the first time in my life, I contemplated ending it all.
A little girl came up to me. For a moment, I thought she would try to comfort me, but all she said was:
“As a symbol of Farölk, they used to put me on my knees before I was old enough to drink wine so that I could be taught the true form of Farölk.”
Listing to her nonsense, I began climbing the railing.
“The ancient gods have made it so that the world is blind to their power.” She didn’t take any breaths while talking, the words just streamed out of her little drooling mouth completely unhindered. “These gods are both power-hungry and charming. Although these malevolent beings are relentless in their goal to rule everything, none are the true monarch of a ravaged world. They are insidious creatures that impose their will on the living and shape their nature, acting as constant tempters in their perceived petty struggles. This is the true danger of these gods. They work, they speak, they spy, they manipulate, they–“
She stopped mid sentenced and returned to the car she had gotten out of. Everyone seemed to be returning to their original positions, spitting out whatever they had put in their mouths and adjusting their clothes. The creatures were almost upon me now, but then – in an instant – the midnight sky came back and the airplanes in the sky shot forward without any need to accelerate, just as if they hadn’t stopped at all… and the creatures vanished just before their tentacles reached me. I climbed down on the sidewalk again and burst into tears. The little girl looked at me from the car, just as if she had never seen me before in her life.
My friend, who lived near Fort Greene Park, opened his door – surprised to see my exhausted face at this late hour. There were no indications of a struggle, he was perfectly fine. I urged him to check his phone. Confused, he picked it up.
“Can you see if you received a phone call from me in the past few hours or so?” I said, hoping there would be some evidence.
“No, there’s nothing–“
“Goddamnit!” I said. “I was hoping–“
“Hey, what’s going on with you?” he said with sympathy in his eyes. “Are you alright?”
“I’m okay, it’s just that… Well, I don’t even know where to begin to be honest.”
“Why don’t you try from the start,” he said and paused the game he had been playing on his Xbox.
I told him everything, albeit a bit incoherently.
“Are you on drugs?!” he said. “That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard, and – trust me – I’ve heard a lot of crazy shit.”
“I didn’t expect you to believe me,” I said. “But during this… this day between the days, I really did call you and you picked up. I really thought I got through to you. You said something about… something about not being a historian, but a forester.”
“Wait, woah!” my friend said, suddenly pale. “What did you just say?” His lower lip trembled with a fear I hadn’t seen in his eyes before. “Did you just say…”
“You kept repeating it: ‘I’m a forester, not a historian’,” I said.
“I-I just… Just now when I was playing video games, I had this déjà vu to a dream I thought I must have forgotten a long time ago. I was talking to someone, and my body was twisted in some macabre way. It was freaky! There was blood everywhere, and I remember saying those exact words: I’m a forester, not a historian.”
“It wasn’t a dream, man!” I said. “It was me, you were talking to me on the phone and you said those words.”
He walked over to the window.
“I don’t see anything out of the ordinary,” he said.
“This isn’t something you would see just by looking through your window,” I said. “It’s completely hidden from the world. You only experience day and night, not what happens in-between!”
I sat down on my friend's sofa and turned on the news. They were reporting from a crime scene.
“Wait, that’s outside my place,” I said. “What’s going on?”
There was a picture of me on the screen, wanted for a hit-and-run. The victim was a little boy. It was the kid making jazz-hands. They displayed a city map, showing the crash location and a red line going from my place to the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge.
“Several police cars were involved in the chase,” the reporter said, “but lost track of the subject after he exited his car on the bridge–“
My friend walked over to me. I quickly turned off the TV before he saw my face on it.
“What was that?” he said.
“N-nothing,” I said. “Just some car accident near my place.”
But it wasn’t nothing. It was them, the creatures, trying to manipulate everyone into doing their bidding. I’m hiding at a McDonalds right now. I have nowhere to go, chased both during the days and in-between them. Nowhere to go except maybe another edge to jump off from…

Heyo, I just feel like telling you the story, hopefully to get the same feeling as letting off steam into a journal or likewise. Plus this is the first time I'm ever posting something like this, let alone telling it to the outside world, so I am a little nervous about how this is gonna go, especially since it's a subject very hard to think back to for me.
I want to tell you the story of a very abusive and manipulative boyfriend I had once, who hurt me both mentally and physically on multiple occations. Just letting out a warning though, as this story will turn rather bloody and horrible, but I promise the ending is good! I am (mostly) over it today, still suffering from nightmares a few times every week or easily triggered by the mention of what he did (perhaps some sort of PTSD? Idk, I was never diagnosed with that). If that sounds bad, I was waaay worse for over a year back then. Anyways, the story!
So it all started back 4 years ago when I was 14, going to school in 8th grade, pretty normal stuff. Next to our school is the high school, and my ex of 18 years went there. I'll just call him "ex" for the story, it's pretty simple. We didn't know eachother much and didn't see eachother much other than the times we crossed paths outside school and sharing the bus stop since we took the same bus home. Eventually we got to talking a little, then more and more until we became pretty cool with eachother. He was always very kindhearted, sweet and caring (I later learned that this wasn't his normal habitus). One thing led to another and over the course of a few months, we were kissing, hugging, visiting eachother to play games and watch movies and whatnot. We were pretty much boyfriend and girlfriend, and nobody really minded despite our age differences, which I didn't mind either. At this point, we had both turned a year older and we happily thrived together. But boys being boys, he started getting closer at times, hands on my thighs, wanting to kiss more than normally, holding my chest and so on. He wanted sex with me, it was pretty clear. I loved him obviously, but I didn't feel that ready for sex yet even though I had just passed the age of consent in our country. I shouldn't have to explain why I don't want or feel ready for something like that - a no is a no. Which he did not take too well. We talked about it a few times, he scoffed it off, leaving me alone for a few days before trying to get in my panties again. He made me stroke him outside of his pants to give me the taste of it, but it just felt like I was doing something too adult for me to experience already - I'm a bit of a late bloomer I guess, I was still playing sims and going crazy about anything pink and items more suitable for younger kids. So having a more grown adult wanting me to open my legs for him to enjoy wasn't something I was too crazy about.
We were a few months into our relationship at this point. He was growing very cold and careless at me, as if to punish me for not giving him sex. His text messages were one-worders or even just "k", which he normally never did. His voice were darker and more careless, he didn't thank me for making or giving him stuff. I felt like I was loosing him and it honestly made me consider giving in to his demands. I know, kinda stupid.
One day while I was out with one of my friends, let's call her Sofie, we were talking, but she seemed distant, as if she wanted to tell me something. This was well over three years ago, so I can't remember the exact correspondance, but she eventually let out that she heard Ex had been sleeping with another friend of hers. Sofie's friend never knew Ex and I were together, but I did not care for a second about that. I was at his door before the hour passed and confronted him in person, telling him what Sofie told me. Now, I've known Sofie for many years, we grew up ever since we started in elementary school, she would not lie about something like this to me. "Luckily", this wasn't an issue, as Ex seemed to confess immediately to my confrontation. He practically got on his knees and begged me to forgive him and that he was drunk and didn't know what he was doing, yadda yadda.
I can not ever in my life forgive the goddamn stupidity I possess for bringing together the courage to forgive him. I took him back at the promise that he never did something like that again, and that he wouldn't bug me for sex until I was finally ready. He didn't seem too happy about the last part now that I think back to the look of his face, but he accepted the terms and we were back on track.
I should've seen it coming that he would after not two weeks go back to the way he were, acting cold, no hugging, no kissing - as if he was getting his womanly satisfaction elsewhere. I quickly started to grow suspicious, but I didn't want to believe it. I loved him, like the idiot I was, but even so, I went to Sofie again just to vent out my frustrations and ask her for advice. She was very supportive of me. If you read this "Sofie" thank you!
Now, Ex has alot of bros he hangs out with on the regular, playing football, drinking, going to the club without me and all that. I trusted him enough to not let it bug me. But being the stalking, untrusting slag that I am, I went and looked at his friends facebooks just to quench my boredom one evening while home alone.
On his fucking best mates facebook page, in the images section, I see a picture of him and Ex, sitting in a couch at the club, a beer in one hand and a very lightly dressed girl in the other. THE SAME FUCKING GIRL. Frantic, I look at the date and lo and behold, the date is very relevant to our current relationship, seemingly posted right after the last time he told me he was going clubbing. Crying my eyes out, I very gently and politely ask him to come to my house because I want to ask him something. "I guess" he replies in our language 45 minutes later. I let him in, sit him down and tell him about what I saw. His cheeks got red in embarrassment and he got up. Instead of doing like last time I confronted him with this, he collected the audacity to tell me to apologize for spying on him immediately and SUCK. HIS. DICK. as an apology for "being such a boring, asexual bitch"... I was speechess, baffled, dumbstruck by this, but I got up myself and stood my ground. Even crying my eyes out, I told him no and that we're over. This was met with a slap in my face and a more stern, shouting tone, demanding me to apply fellatio on him. I am proud to admit I never considered it for another second, but I was taxed with yet another slap and a last chance.
This is the part where it gets pretty violent, so be advised.
I kept my ground and told him to leave my house. I could see the anger in his eyes and hear an audible click in his head as he apparently lost all care for whatever future he could make for himself as he threw everything down the drain by proceeding to beat me up to a pulp. He started with a punch in my face, most after that is honestly a blur in my memory, but I do remember things like kicking me on the floor, throwing me onto a glass table which cut me pretty back, punching me against the wall. Eventually he pinned me to the floor and bent my right elbow in the wrong direction breaking my arm. I should note that Ex was this bulky strong type of guy who either spends his time in the gym or at the club, so he didn't have much difficulty with me since I was always very small in size. After breaking my arm, he broke every finger on the same hand, so I was pretty much defenceless since my left arm wasn't worth shit in the position he had me in. He strangled me to the point where my vision started to tunnel, and it took me a long while to notice he had been working my pants off my legs and readying himself to rape me on the spot. I guess I gave up at this point since I had stopped struggling, but as if this was a fucking hollywood movie, two police officers burst open the door and stopped him. I later learned that our next door neighboors had heard my screams and the ruckus of my living room getting destroyed, called the cops and were instructed to stay in their house. They caught Ex red handed in the act, dick out and blood on his hands, immediately tackling him and putting him in cuffs while he's screaming bloody murder how this is my fault and I could've prevented this. I was coughing blood, hurting everywhere and crying till my gut hurt out of relief and terror at the same time.
I'm glad I'm finally done writing that part cause fuck, that was hard to think back on... I end up in the hospital, spending several months in there to heal my broken bones and broken mind. I must've gone through a dozen different therapists and psychiatrists, but I never really felt like anything helped much. I still participated in the trials against Ex, very much pressing charges and very much hoping he would suffer for an eternity in the deepest hole we have in the country. Needless to say, there was no getting him out of at least four years without parole for assault, sexual assault and attempted murder (strangling me until I nearly passed out). It was a very frustrating time in court, there was a ton of lawyers and all kinds of people to talk to, share my side of the story with and so on, plus he acted all innocent and whatnot, causing me at one point to lose my shit inside the courtroom. I was sat down pretty quickly though as to not lose the case, but hopefully people understand the feelings behind my outburst?
Anyways, months went by, he's in prison, I'm back home. I suffered from severe anxiety, depression, paranoia, I relived the episode in my dreams every single night for almost a year. I was so damaged, I couldn't leave the house for the whole year. I only saw my parents and my brother, I lost most of my friends due to no contact. I was kicked out of school for absence. I eventually became suicidal and planned for countless ways to end my life without getting stopped by my family since I was pretty much under supervision from at least one family member at all times - in case I needed a hug I guess. I was never stupid enough to actually try though, so I guess I wasn't entirely suicidal. But I wanted to die so it could all end. I was haunted for a full year by something that took a little over ten minutes. Everything was pretty shitty and I don't think I can remember a single time I smiled during that period.
So the year passes, I'm still in the same state, but one day we get a knock on the door. It was Sofie. Remember the friend I had who told me about my Ex cheating on me, the best friend I ever had since we met starting elementary school? I had been visited by people wanting to check up on me before, and I or my parents had always turned them down so I wouldn't have to deal with the extra weight of socializing when I obviously wasn't in any state to do so. But Sofie was very persistant, and I eventually let her in to talk. By god, if that wasn't the best thing I've ever done in my entire life. She was there for me always, when so many other people had just left. We got to talking and we started making it a thing that she would visit every week and we would play a board game or just hug it out. Anything that could make me feel better and help me move on, away from the past. During her visits, she slowly made bits of progress and slowly turned my perspective on life around, making me focus on the small but good bits instead of the bad stuff in life. I slowly became more open and optimistic, thanks to the impact her visits and words had on me. A dozen therapists couldn't get through to me, but my best friend possibly saved my life. I might've gotten over it on my own through time, but if it wasn't for Sofie, I would be in a much worse spot today than I am currently. So guys and girls, VALUE YOUR FRIENDS!! She tricked me to go out with her sometimes, eating or watching a movie or shopping. She taught me to live in society again and view everything in a much more optimistic way.
So I passed into 17 and finally everything slowly started to seem normal again. Yes, I was still haunted by what happened almost two years back, but I had learned to deal with it. I still saw Sofie every week, but we had switched it to I go to her house, by myself, without anyone to watch over me on the trip. It was good progress and I am forever thankful to her. I started back in school with a new class and quickly got back in the system. Things were good again, and I never heard much about how Ex was doing in prison. He will be out at some point though, but he is not allowed to go near me or talk to me without my express consent, and he will be under supervision for the first good amount of time. I wish his punishment was much harsher, but I've learned to not really care about him anymore. I'm very happy about how things turned out. I was even slowly trusting boys again and considering the idea of getting in a relationship in the future. So in the end, I'm 20% invalid in my right elbow and my fingers hurt sometimes, and I got a scar on my chin. But I came out of with with a new perspective on pretty much everything in life, and a friend that I could not be more happy with. I love Sofie with all of my heart and I would honestly die for her if it ever became neccesary.
To add another relevant story to this, during mid spring this year when the virus hit pretty hard, I was outside on my own to shop a few groceries. I know how it sounds, but my country handled the crisis so well that a full lockdown never really happened and everyone could still step outside, even without masks. We got alot of praise for how it was handled here. Scandinavia rocks! Anyways, I was in the grocery store, picking up whatever I can't remember, and inside I saw three of Ex's guy friends. I should note that his friends were very much on his side and believed that what he did was very much justified. They hated me with their guts. Our eyes met and they started walking towards me. I noped out of there as fast as I possibly could, leaving the shopping for another day. I don't know if they followed me, but I didn't see them afterwards. I know this little addition seems petty or meaningless, but it's a reminder to me what happened and that I shouldn't trust anyone I see, let alone his old friends. I told my family once I got home, and my brother, who is a sergeant in the army, went straight to their individual doorsteps and told them to never approach me again, threatening them. I think that's pretty damn awesome, but I worried he would lose his position as sergeant, but he reassured me something like that couldn't hurt his career on top of that he loves me more than his job obviously. well, considering it's been nearly six months, and I haven't seen any of them since, I can safely say it must have worked.
So.. That was my story of the most terrible and scary shit I've been through, and how it changed me in the long run. I'm doing pretty good today, pursuing my dreams and staying physically active. If you've read this far, I thank you with all of my heart for taking the time to listen to my story. I would give a potato for the long post, but I can't hand you anything material through a computer screen, so the thought must do~
Thank you. Stay safe
